my submission for `misskittyoooo 's Most improved Artist contest

i hope that misskittyoooo would accept this one because my drawing submission date is a bit late of the deadline... but i did draw this earlier than that, i just started uploading stuff at that date, around the start of summer vacation.

mediums used:
just a mechanical pencil (with different leads H, HB and 2B)! XD. just look at it closely and you'll see the pencil strokes... it's quite refreshing to submit a deviation made entirely from pencil for a change. yay for no photoshop!

Areas you think you improved most on: on this picture, i think i improved on lots of stuff.
1. first the face is prettier, she now has eyelashes, lipgloss and better positioning of the eyes, nose and mouth.

2. the hair looks cleaner, she has a more detailed hair with the shading and the hair strands (i specially like the hair shine)

3. the anatomy is more correct, not much to explain, she just has better proportions...

4. there are more details, just check out the head, pants and the shoes.

5. the shading, i used 2 different shading techniques here, the soft, blended shading and the cell shading on the hair.

6. it's cleaner, there's little smudges on the new pic (except the intentional ones for shading)

7. choice of paper, i've now learned that rather than draw on my notebook in class, i discovered that it's much better to write notes in my sketchpad! XP just look at the pic, it just looks better and cleaner

any other information you feel is relevant:
i typed all that stuff on what i improved on but what i really improved on the most is on digital inking and coloring. just check this out,

i would've chosen a colored one to show it but unfortunately, all my colored stuff are already months late from march 2006. all that's left is my pencil stuff.

i'm also improving on my animation skills right now in hopes that it will help me on the actual animation i'll be doing later on...
