Description

Horses are very intelligent and skilled beast, capable of a great deal. They are very aware of their surroundings and get overstimulated and stressed, especially in high stakes environments. This can both decrease their performance and put them and those around them in danger. Their keepers, even today, put blinders on them to block or reduce their field of view. The blinders keep the horse from focusing on things that spook or distract them. This reduces their stress and makes them safer and more capable of doing their jobs well.

I wonder what other species gets stresses and distracted?
