Description
The Present DayVladimir was alone in apartment, now scruffy and dirty from months of being unkempt. The smell of rotted food felled the air from the open fridge. He was in a no better state, his hair grown out and had started to knot together. His beard was now grown out too, with bits of dirt and old food entangled in it. His clothing was ripped and blood stained from a long lost fight was left lying around the place. Broken glasses and bottles scatted the floor around him, a few unbroken bottle stood atop a side table next to his chair. He stared longing into his latest bottle of Jack’s.
'Where did I go wrong?' he kept thinking to himself before downing another gulp of whisky. He felt the burn in the back of throat before taking another, longer, gulp. Getting drunk was hard work, his body was breaking the alcohol down fast. He hadn’t tried to get drunk since the late 40’s, before healing powers appeared. But this wasn’t going to stop him from trying. Tonight he wanted to forget.
8 Months Early
The late evening sky was turning into rosy red over Angel-Falls, as Vladimir and Jong Yu-Ri entered the apartment complex. It had been 16 hours since the last phone call from Markus, so Vladimir and Yu-Ri had taken the earliest flight back to Angel-Falls. Things had been going to plan up to this point. The two had hunted down and killed most of the Russian scientist that had work in the lab that Yu-Ri had been tested in and destroying as much the research linked to it as they could find. Some of it was still out there, but it would have to wait now. Markus last phone call was worrying. Things with Catherine had spiralled out of control. He had told Vlad that she had started bring men back to apartment and that they looked to be in some sort of trance. Vlad gave him the order to put her under and call back when he had. But he never did. Now the two stood, impatiently, waiting for the elevator to reach their floor. Vladimir look down at the floor, sweet rapper peppered the floor. Catherine had been putting on weight over the last few months, since being attacked by the Iron Chancellor in Berlin. It looked as she gotten a bit of a sweet tooth. The bell binged as the doors slid open reviling the corridor of there floor. A man stood in the door way, waiting, before moving to one side to let Vlad and muscular Yu-Ri out before getting into the elevator himself. Apartment 24d, one of 4 on this floor, was home to the unit when in Angel-Falls. As they neared the door it was clear something was wrong. The door was ajar. “Wait here.” Vladimir told Yu-Ri as he pulled a Colt.45 out of his jacket holster.
Slowly he pushed the door open, checking the room as it opened. He spotted Markus, standing in the middle of the room. “Markus!” He pushed the door fully open, it smashing into the wall and it slowly swung back. He moved quickly over to him, scanning the others door into the room as he neared him. Yu-Ri stood ready in the door way, her .50 Desert Eagle in hand. She nodded that she was ready to go. He nodded back. She could move quickly and quietly for the mountain of muscle that she was. Heading from one room to another, clearing the rest of the apartment. As she searched the remaining rooms, Vladimir approached Markus. “Markus?” He placed his hand his shoulder, he was trembling. “Markus, are you alright?” moving to the front of him. Vlad was shocked by what he saw. Markus was frozen in place his eyes blood shot and wide open, unblinking. Sweat running down his face and neck, staining his shirt. He grabbed his shoulder and shook him. “Markus! Snap out of it!” Nothing happen.
“Was this… Did Catherine do this to you?” He got a small twitch from his eyes. “I’m sorry.” He said before punching him as hard as possible in the face.
The night had brought rain with it, ending the week long heat wave with it. Yu-Ri stood in the kitchen area, trying to put together a sandwich. Vlad and Markus were in the living area, Markus laid on the couch and had a cold towel over eyes. Vlad stood over him.
“Let’s go over this again. Your telling me that when you tried to stop Catherine, she just froze you place. Before leaving with her belonging and taking some weapons.”
“It’s crazy, but that’s about it.” The German painfully raised his hand to move the towel down his face before setting upright. His nose had been broken by Vlad’s punch, he eyes still red and sore from being open all that time. Yu-Ri come over with her take on a chicken sandwich. Think slices of chicken breast, mayo, lettuce leafs and what looked to be red onion but was, in fact, beetroot. “Thanks.” Markus said raising his hand, but she walked past, taking a seat at the opposite end of the couch. She took a huge bite out of the sandwich, before looking up at a sorry faced Markus and a smirking Vlad looking back at her. “What?” She said spitting some food out of her month.
“I’ll get you something.” Vlad said patting Markus on the shoulder. “What you want?”
“There should be some Smithfield Smoked Ham in the fridge, along with Italian Caprino Cheese and fresh Greek Tomatoes.” He looked to Yu-Ri, about to tell her about how the Smithfield was best ham he found in states and how the pigs were feed only peanuts, which gave the meat a unique flavour. He quickly changed his mind when he saw the pale purple, mayo beetroot juice drippling down her chin. Vlad came back, sandwich in hand for the German sniper, along with 3 open beers for everyone.
“Danke.” He said taking the drink and sandwich. Vlad sat down in his chair, taking a swig from his drink.
“So…any idea…where…we should start looking for her?” Yu-Ri asked, taking down the last of her snack. Markus gave a regrettably painful shank of his head.
“I tried to follow her, but lost her.” He looked at Vlad. “I think she blocked me from seeing her. One minute I can see her, the next she gone and I’m standing in the middle of crosswalk. You wouldn’t think it was possible to lose a 250lb woman.” He took a bit from the neatly made sandwich.
“Where did you lose her?” Vlad asked.
“I nearly got hit by a bus.” Markus covered his mouth as continued his story looking at Yu-Ri.
“Where?” Vlad asked in a more forcefully. Markus swallowed his food. “North End.” Vlad stood and gathered his side arm and Jacket.
“You’re not going after her are you?” Yu-Ri stood to face Vladimir as he neared the door.
“Someone got stop her.” He said as left the apartment.

Well got the render done sooner then I thought. Hopeful the story doesn't have too many mistakes (still practicing my writing skills) and only the renders that are hold the story back at this stage. I've about 3100 words written of this story so far.
The story takes place in the city of
Vladimir, Markus and Yu-Ri belong to myself.
