Before the onset of winter - acolyte Rictus and pathfinder Cynare head from the Vale, after a long year of searching - to return to Sanctum with all the other Stonehaven wolves before the freeze. Rictus is content for that to be the end. Let any remaining trace of his lost kin die with the autumn leaves beneath the snow. But Cy is more optimistic, trying to rally his new friend for one last shot of hope.
But did he really think they were coming back, or did he just want an excuse to huddle under a dead tree together, and remain apart from the grander woes of the Isle?
Magic was continuing to awaken, the mountains were beginning to move. It was time they moved on, as well.
