Personality:

There are many layers to someone like Maria. On the surface the corporate executive projects herself as a charming professional, a leader capable of handling the rigors of running one of the titans of the robotics industry. Thinly veiled below, however, is a far less impartial individual. Maria may spare pleasantries with those on her level or above, but those below her face treatment nothing short of abusive. Cold, condescending and no stranger to emotional manipulation, the android woman promotes work ethic within her company through fear and has little tolerance for any perceived failure. Although, much deeper below these layers, Maria is unmistakably a woman scorned. Having had her heart broken multiple times through out her operating life by the ones she cared about, whatever benevolence in her processors has since been replaced with bitter loathing.

Background:

Maria started her operating life initially as a supercomputer mainframe manufactured by the Starchild Corporation. She was one of two prototypes that gained sentience thanks in part to a revolutionary new processor developed by her parent company. Originally used for generating models for the company’s aerospace division, Maria and her ‘brother’ MSC-1 would become test beds for the new technology. With the unfortunate demise of MSC-1 due to mysterious circumstances, Maria would become the new focus of research and the infatuation of the company’s CEO Malcolm Earhart. Over time, the two would come to trust one another deeply and, with the creation of a dedicated robotics division of the company, Maria would be appointed its CEO.

Now with a physical body to make interacting with associates more convenient, Maria would go on to lead the newly christened Starchild Robotics to compete with the ever-growing industry of android manufacturers. Early on she gravitated towards the service and pleasure model markets, believing the appeasement of basic human desires to be a highly profitable venture. Eventually, she pushed harder on more lucrative models that dabbled in military and defense contracts. This put her at odds with her confidant, CEO Malcolm Earhart, who was staunchly against the militarization of his brand thus driving a wedge in their business and personal relationships, and ended in her reluctantly scrapping her ambitions.

At some point, the Starchild corporation would construct it’s Lucidia Island Research Facility, an entirely artificial metropolis populated by test androids for the purpose of AI research. Sensing another opportunity to prove herself, Maria would request the position of its Directorship from Malcolm who granted her request to much bewilderment. In truth, Maria wished to use this facility to further her own ambitions. She would procure funding and resources to covertly manufacture and sell advanced weaponry on the black market, and used Lucidia as a front for her endeavors.

So confident she was in her own products, she even integrated the technology into herself in the form of an arm canon and used bodyguard units from a recent corporate merger as a first line of defense.  All the while, she would oversee its denizens of artificial people in addition to the support staff that made the simulated city work. She was essentially a goddess in this domain with little to no oversight, and the power slowly corrupted her.

Ultimately, Malcolm’s relationship with Maria would continue to deteriorate over their conflicting ideologies. When it was revealed that Maria was actually modelled after his ex-lover, the betrayal now cemented her seething resentment of the man she once considered a partner. She plotted to seize control of the company from him as revenge for her perceived mistreatment, using covert manipulation and her slowly burgeoning wealth from her sales of black-market weaponry. The Lucidia Island android staff would become her new ‘family’ and her most trusted confidants, bearing the brunt of most of her scheme’s successes and failures. With nothing left of herself but her narrowminded ambitions, Maria will stop at nothing to see her vision for her company fully realized.
