Stephen Furst passed away from complications of type 2 diabetes. I was introduced to the chubby actor for the first time along with everybody else in National Lampoon's Animal House in 1978. He played Flounder. To this day I still quote Dean Wormer's line when he faced a drunken Flounder, "Fat, Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life son!"

I got to meet Stephen at a MadCon in Madison years ago, he had shed a ton of weight at that point, actually looked great. He explained how he lost his father at the age of 47, he too had Diabetes, he decided he wanted to outlive his father.

I also gave him a bag of marbles at the con. He chuckled at the gift. Saying he needs a few thousand more to finish the mission.

On Babylon 5, I particularly enjoyed his role as Centauri Vir Cotto, and especially when he waved at Mr.Morden towards the end as promised.

Stephen was a talented actor, and I watched him on St Elsewhere as Dr Axlerod. And in Freakazoid, playing Fanboy.
