-----------------------
Some changes to Eko since her 2017 design. She's now an original species, and is full female. More information below~
Name: Eko Choral
Species: Kelpling
Age: 29
Height: 3'4" (101.6cm)
Weight: 56 lbs (25.4 kg)
Occupation: Seamstress
Likes: Salty and sweet foods, swimming, rubber, camping, plushies, soft things, exploring, spiders, ukulele, fantasy, sci-fi, puns, dolphins, fashion, dancing
Dislikes: buses, gum, peppermint, centipedes, spiders, starfish, red hats, reading
Personality: Like most Kelplings, Eko is socially outgoing, and often aims to make others in her life happy. She's kind to others, though likes to tease with a hint of sass. She is a bit more stationary than most kelplings though, never having been part of a tribe since her upbringing, and has resided in coast-side towns the majority of her life. She enjoys tailoring, and makes a living out of making custom clothes, especially for the more exotic species that might have trouble finding something to wear.
Kelpling Physiology: Short, slippery, and amphibious, Kelplings are highly adaptable. Their skin is smooth to the touch, almost rubbery. Their fins, located between their fingers and toes, can stretch to almost double their original length, making them surprisingly durable. The two supporting fin 'spines' can fold against their forearm, tucking the membrane away protectively. The three 'tentacles' that line the back of their head are actually a protective layer for their gills, located at the base of their skull. Underwater they can undulate, allowing them to move water over them while remaining otherwise stationary. They can breathe both fresh and salt water, but prefer saltier climates. While they are expert swimmers, they are just as capable on land as most other bipedal species. Their colored markings vary greatly between tribes, and the offspring of two differently patterned parents is just as likely to develop a new random pattern as it is to inherent full or parts of either parent's appearance.
Males of the species do not posses a penis, and as such can be hard to distinguish from females. Their cloaca is used for urinary and reproductive purposes only, as they also have an anus for hard excrement. The females of the species are egg-laying, though much of the incubation of fertilized eggs occurs internally. Most pregnancies last approximately eight months, with the last two weeks of incubation being external, with the embryo visible under its jelly-like shell. At this stage the embryo is fully autonomous, though still needing development, and while it doesn't need extra warmth from its parent, most will still keep the egg close for protection until hatching. Kelplings reach sexual maturity around the age of 16, though they adhere to cultural standards of waiting until they are 18 before perusing sexual promiscuity.
Kelpling diet is as diverse as most other sapient species, though they have a propensity toward high salt and sugar foods. Salted bananas are an almost universal favorite. They have a high metabolism, and thus eat frequently, often using meals as a form of social gathering.
Kelpling Sociology: Kelplings are an enigmatic species, often found in marsh or shoreline environments. They are generally free spirited, and prefer being social and outgoing. Their constant aim to please makes them highly adaptable to most social environments; They often consider even difficult circumstances as more of a challenge or a game, relieving them of most anxiety. They rarely have many possessions, and as such they often stand to lose little, so 'failing' such social 'games' rarely stresses them out. Tribes of Kelplings are usually founded on tight-knit friend groups, and serve to help raise young. As such most tribes do not last more than a generation, often disseminating into smaller tribes. Many Kelplings never bother with the tribal life, seeking adventure with other races, both aquatic and land dwelling in equal parts. Their easy going nature does however reign in their ambitions, and very few ever seek anything akin to fame or fortune. As such, they have little to no say in politics or social discourse.
