Description As promised, one interesting wwI plane. I paint it because I really like the unusual design. Its an austria-hungarian figter nicknamed Starstrutter or flying coffin
Second thing is that Im coming from the same city as the pilot of this plane. He was the best pilot from hungary in wwI. On the picture he is defending the port on adriatic against Italian bombers.

Technically, I had a 3d model done by my friend which was used for basic perspective. Rest is painting in photoshop with a big help from custrom brushes done by other frined. But generally I went to sligtly different and more dramatic style. So dont know if it was succesfull, you can tell me how you like it. Or dislike

Woah, impressive paintwork! That is an unusual plane indeed, especially as for gun placement 0.o

Are those torpedo nets, next to the ship?

Utterly amazing. That is all I can think of, I note you gave it a more interesting gun design (or, was that there already? I don't remember)

Quite wonderful! How could I possibly dislike it?

It is indeed a very interesting WWI design, especially the machine gun housing over the wing. Although I would have seconds thoughts about getting on a plane known as "The Flying Coffin" This work is worthy of any gallery dedicated to the history of WWI fighters.

Also, if your friend has a DA account, you should add his profile page in the credits for the piece. I would like to see the original 3D render he made.

You are probably the most admirable artist I have ever come across on deviantart. Your attention to detail is absolutely astounding....I just can't get enough of it. All your works are brilliant--you never cease to amaze me with each update. I mean, every time I get an update from you, I have to tell myself, "This isn't just another picture. This is a piece of art that was created by RADOJAVOR." And I swear, I think I take about like, 30-45 minutes to just look at it all--all the details I mean, that are in every single one of your artworks. And every time I think that I found all of the details that were in each of your designs, I look at it again another day and I go, "Holy--! There are MORE details?!?" that I just simply didn't find before.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Suffice to say, you are an A-MAZING artist, and I am ever-so-grateful to have found you and your works

It's interesting. Definitely different from your usual work, but I can still see your style in it, so that's good. I like the angel/perspective, but I miss your usual attention to great detail. Still, the colours and contrasts are good, as always. ^_^

Brat-Innocenty In reply to ??? [2008-08-27 13:26:59 +0000 UTC]

This painting is awe- inspiring in so many respects It's amazing how much the authentic, accurate impression it creates adds to the epic scene it depicts- and how many factors contribute to it
It's amazing how well this work combines realism and awe Usually those two don't mix well in battle scenes, but here the proportions are just perfect- the clouds of smoke, the blur of movement in the background, and the jaw- dropping details of all warmachines both in air and below them create a dangerous impression of real combat, while the colours, lighting, and the details of the ground/ sea level ensure a more heroic, glorified feel The strong focus on the foreground plane, captured in motion without any blur, make this impression even stronger x)
If you don't mind me saying so, though, one thing I find a bit strange is the perspective of the ground level When looking at the warship in the anchor and the warehouses behind it feels as though the buildings were standing under a different angle than the ship; I'm not certain how the height and the angle of view would affect it, but I find it a bit unsettilng
In general, the painting is excellent- it captures the dramatic atmosphere of a battle while keeping more than enough of details to stun an onlooker An absolute must for a !

I just...can't say a word. It's great, spectacular, incredible details, and perspective (distances are almost measurable). I most like looking down on the ship from the plane's wheel point of view, really feels like flying and looking down Incredible paint (as usual)

Very cool! And you've given me a new plane to learn about... I've recently become a lot more fascinated by the old WWI-era fighters, partly because they're just damn dangerous by nature... seems you were lucky to survive just flying one, much less fighting in one.
