Since I had already drawn Jerrick, I figured I'd draw Quillide instead. And in retroactive celebration of ABSURD FURY!!!'s next release, I thought it be fun to recreate my favorite scene to remind everyone where the last adventure left off. :3

I figured the best way to do this was to play off of the comic's monochromatic style and went with a Film Noir aesthetic by bringing out the deep contrasts and digging into my studies of mise en scene (yes, I'm one of those uppity academic types). Some how Quillidie ended up looking like a certain succubus of mine that susiciously keeps coming up in conversations about Jerrick (this was completely unintentional). Now the biggest divergence I had make was her outfit. In order to get that nice high contrast effect I need her to be dark where the background was light, I tried to stay true to her original costume the best I could but I slowly strayed closer and closer to black leather until I said "Fuck It, we're going full Punished Venom Quilidie". I also added some extra restaurant-y bits an doohickeys to populate a lot of the original scene's empty space, as well as using actual red for the blood to contrast her signature green anime hair.
