(2007) Acrylic and Oil on canvas 22" x 28"
The photo doesn't show under the abyss I layered stripes of the pure colors in acrylics then laid over the black in oil. The sky is a gradient of acrylic and the drops are oil.
I have been having difficulties sleeping (more so than usual) and a little over a month ago went several weeks without sleeping much more than an hour or so each night. I was given a prescription for an anti-anxiety meds and took it several nights in a row, after about 5 nights I was an emotional wreck at sat at my table tears in my eyes when the words, "My soul bleeds color into the abyss" popped into my head. And so was born this painting. Weird cause normally I don't put much meaning into my work, but lately have been. Notice no abstract impressionism either.
