Description
Tall TreesAcrylic; approx 10" x 7.5"
Forgotten Realms, Champions of Valor; internal illustration.

Original artwork sold
Two weary travellers wend their way up the broad avenue of trees, happy to have reached the comfort of home, as the sun dips to the horizon in the west.
In the brief for this piece I was asked to convey a vast elven/druidic tree city; Tall Trees.
I wanted to create a relaxed, atmospheric, feel to the place. Setting it at sunset allowed for the strong slanting yellow light, which helped me pick out the receding form of the trees, whilst adding mood to the setting.

A painting?!
This is amazing! At first I thought it was digital, but now I'm more taken away by the fact that it's entirely done with acrylics and also the amount of time and patience you've put into this work!
And congratulations for the Daily Deviation! Amazing!

And this work is just too epic for words. I'll just stare at it. How long does it take you to draw that`?

Nice bridges and little housies... But isn't the hollow housing bad for the trees?

The only "living" part of the tree (leaves aside, of course) is it's inner bark. That's where the water runs up from the roots and into the limbs and leaves, so as long as there's plenty of bark the trees will be perfectly healthy.
