Been meaning to draw these two for a while,,
Starshine (the pink pony) was adopted from
Cascade (the purple pony) was a gift from
Starshine is the daughter of Flash Sentry and Moondancer. Being Moondancer's daughter, coupled with living in Canterlot, it was no surprise that Starshine quickly grew to be fascinated with magic and spellcasting. However, being an earth pony (Flash has some earth pony genes on his mother's side), she found herself unable to actually cast any of the spells she was so obsessed with.
As a result, she turned to alchemy, the transmutation of magical substances. She tends to focus too much on her studies, to the point where she forgets to eat or sleep. Luckily, her girlfriend Cascade is there to keep an eye on her.
Starshine has a rare mutation. When her cutie mark (the multicoloured drips) appeared, it spread to more areas of her body than just her flank. The drips under her eyes are also a part of her cutie mark, and cannot be removed. This mutation may be a result of some of her earlier alchemy-attempts-gone-wrong.
As for Cascade, she's literally just vibing.
Her talent is relaxation therapy, a great asset for when she's trying to get Stashine to take breaks from studying. She owns a small spa clinic in Canterlot, where she makes good money helping other ponies relax.
She's very sweet and chill, but is very sensible. She can be a bit of a pushover, though. Since meeting Starshine, she's started to get better.
Cascade and Starshine are both good friends with Lumen Essence. When Lumen is in Canterlot, the three spend most of their time together.
