Description
Here is the next part to my Ultraman Photon project; the Ultra Armor forms of Ultraman Photon. Working on these forms also helped me to fine-tune Photon’s base form.

As Kouki and Photon battle against both real Kaiju and those suffering from Stage 3 Kaiju Syndrome, Photon acquires new powers with each memory of a past Ultraman in the forms of new Ultra Cores and the Ultra Armor.

Fire Armor- With Photon remembering Ultraman Mebius, Kouki & Photom use the Mebius Ultra Core to access the Fire Armor; increasing the power of Photon’s energy attacks with high temperatures. Photon’s finisher in this form is the Burn Spark Shoot, launching a heated energy beam from his right hand in an Ultraman-style “+” formation.

Water Armor- Influenced by memories of Ultraman Cosmos, Kouki & Photon use the Cosmos Ultra Core to utilize the Water Armor; improving Photon’s evasive and healing abilities. Photon’s healing power is called High Tide Cleanse; sending out healing wave from his right palm, while his finisher is the Tidal Spark Smash; shooting an energy beam from his extended right arm.

Land Armor- By channeling memories of Ultraman Max, Kouki & Photon use the Max Ultra Core to don the Land Armor; increasing Photon’s physical strength exponentially, at the cost of reduced flight speed. Photon’s finisher in this form is the Quake Spark Cannon, firing a concussive energy beam from one or both fists.

Storm Amor- Awakened by the memories of Ultraman Zero, Kouki & Photon use the Zero Ultra Core to equip the Storm Armor; arming Photon with the Storm Sluggers and increasing his speed dramatically. Photon’s finisher in this form is the Gust Spark Shot, releasing a piercing beam from his right arm in an Ultraseven-style “L” formation.

Elemental Armor- With memories of Ultraman Tiga, Dyna, & Gaia, Kouki & Photon use the Trio’s Ultra Core to acquire the Elemental Armor; a powerful form that combines aspects of the other armors, but uses so much energy that it cuts Photon’s active time, so it is reserved for only the strongest opponents. Photon’s finisher in this form is the Elemental Spark Burst; unleashing a surge of elemental energy from his body, though his Color Timer will begin flashing rapidly immediately after using this technique.

Design: This is why I chose Ginga, Orb, & Rosso/Blu as Photon’s base form; they’re all associated with elements (less so with Ginga, but he comes close enough with his multi-colored abilities). Photon is also meant to be a reincarnation of my older (predating Ginga) concept Ultraman Spectra, who in my mind had a Tiga-like protector that had a gradient of colors, and gains powers based on specific colors. I briefly considered incorporating aspects of the other Ultra’s designs into the protectors, but between the crystals taking up most of the visual space and the other Ultras being mostly symbolic (like how the Ultras on the R/B Crystals represent those elements, rather than granting Rosso & Blu their exact powers), I decided not to go forward with the idea. While the armor & crystals are respectively derived from Rosso/Blu & Ginga, the colors are based on Orb’s elements (which are generally the same as Rosso/Blu except for Wind, and Earth somewhat). While my initial plan was to just recolor the armor and crystals, I thought they would look too much like palette swaps of each other, so I blacked out the least complementary color on the body (which coincidentally aligns with Rosso & Blu’s respective primary & secondary R/B Crystals), and re-colored the hands & feet. The Land & Storm Armors respectively have armored hands and Sluggers near the shoulders, and these features reappear on the Elemental Armor. While a gradient of colors would probably make the most sense for a “combined powers” form, it was too complicated, the total color scheme subtly references the Heisei Ultraman Trio (violet representing Tiga in addition to Photon’s standard red, blue, gold, & silver), and while the Elemental Armor is the most powerful of these forms, it is not actually Photon’s final form.
