"These merfolks are related to the Frogfish merfolk. They live 1,000-4,000 meters below surface level, residing in the abyssal depths of the bathypelagic zone. To hunt, they use their bioluminescent top part of their body as a lure, attracting prey like fish, other merfolk, and in some cases, lonely humans. When the prey gets close enough, the lure will hug the prey tightly before the mouth below it quickly snatches it, finally getting its meal."
