Yes, I absolutely AM ripping off Ernest Hemingway's title. Anyways, among the sheep assembled here are some of the refugees of the Red Barn Farm rescue campaign at Farm Sanctuary's New York facility. 26 sheep, many of whom were pregnant, were confiscated from a property when found to be living in filthy, dark, treacherous conditions. All were severely emaciated and dehydrated on top of the strain of pregnancy, and many had hoof problems and untreated wounds. Seeing these sheep someplace clean, bright, and peaceful was most magnificent, and I commend Farm Sanctuary on its continued efforts to fight for the wellbeing of farm animals.
