Description
(Fire Emblem vs Final Fantasy)Connections :
-Amnesiac JRPG heroes with an aptitude for both swordplay and magic.
-We first see them wake up without any memories, found by someone they'd eventually become very close with (Chrom and Locke). This amnesia was caused by the failure of the villains to control their minds (Terra reacting to an Esper + her Slave Crown being removed. Grima failing to possess present Robin due to being weakened from time travel, an overflow of memories into Robin, and Robin's Heart of Grima being too weak at the time)
-Both ended up joining rag tag insurgent/mercenary groups, due to a unique skill they possessed which made them valuable assets (Robin being a tactician and Terra having magic). As a result of joining, they become close allies with a warrior king (Chrom and Edgar) and their siblings (Lissa and Sabin).
-Both are the result of unique births (Terra being half Esper, her father an Esper and her mother a human. Robin being an ideal vessel for Grima due to having a pure enough amount of Grima's blood in his veins). This meant that they were born with immense magical power.
-A country wanted to use this power for war and destruction (the Gestahlian Empire and Plegia/the Grimleal cult), so their parents tried to escape with their children to avoid such a fate (while Terra's mother failed and Terra was raised to be a weapon, Robin's mother succeeded and Robin's early life was free).
-Both are very compassionate to those around them. However, they're also somewhat insecure, wondering if they truly belong with their comrades. This is exacerbated when their pasts come to haunt them, and they wonder if they can even be trusted. Eventually they get over this self-doubt, and resolve to use their abilities to protect the people they care about and to trust in the bonds of their allies.
-Both become the guardians of children (Robin can father Morgan and another child depending on the other parent, and the Shepards recruit all their future offspring from a ruined timeline. Terra becomes a mother figure to the orphans of Mobliz)
-Both eventually topple the evil governments and godlike world-destroying beings who had once controlled and defined them.
-Their ultimate enemy is a sinister, godlike being who successfully destroyed the world and became unstoppable for a time (Kefka Palazzo, who became the God of Magic and destroyed the World of Balance, and Grima, who brought ruin to the future timeline)
-When finally defeating these villains, both risk fading out of existence due to being connected to them: God Kefka (now the source of the world's magic) being killed would make all magic and Espers disappear, Terra included. The only way to permanently kill Grima is if Robin himself does the job, but killing Grima would also kill Robin because he is connected to Grima's being.
-They kill the villains despite this terrible risk, but end up not dying after all due to the strong bonds they created with the people they met on their journeys. Instead, they lose their special heritage (Terra's Esper heritage. Robin's blood of Grima and the Brand of Grima) and live on in peace.
