Fun facts: Ida is partially based on Snow white in several ways, one of them being the poisoned apple.. Her “kissing plants” thing is inspired by Steven universe. Her golden hair and apple theme also has to do with golden apples from minecraft. Her name means “industrious” Her name and association with apples also comes from “Idared apples”, which are apples that have no one set color, and are a mix of many types of apples. The name Ida, is also similar to the name Eden, and Ida originally had a greater inspiration from Eve in the garden of Eden.

Her dress is inspired by german XVI Century fashion. If the people of Mewni had records of the past queens, and some of their original culturism and customs, I think they would call Stella Ida’s reincarnation, due to the many similarities in personality they shared. When I first designed Ida, say probably in 2018/19 She had brown hair and golden apple marks, and had more of a swedish vibe. I then decided I wanted to change her hair to be golden as well, in reference to being born in the new era of magic. Then when making that change, I decided to also shorten her hair and give her more of a snow white vibe.
It’s not really too important or expanded upon, but Ida being young and not being allowed to leave the walls, is partly inspired by Anna from “Fozen”, Rapunzel from “Tangled.” and this concept from an anime called “haibane renmei”.
I don’t love, and worry about. how I did the ending of her story. I just wanted to show that there are good mewmans and bad mewmans, and the same goes for the monsters. And if the Sizeshifters were still known as “cannibals” by Globgor’s time, then I felt like they probably killed and ate a lot of people in that time frame. I worry about how I portray monsters in my works, but know that most of these stories have reference from people who did not like the monsters, so it is fated, that they will portray the monsters in a negative light.
