"Stupid vampire," Kaya hissed under her breath, exhausted from it all. She stared at him for a moment, her eyes unfocused as her mind returned to the stoop not too long ago. His screams had been ghastly, she hadn't heard something that inhuman since...She swallowed down the slow rise of bile and took her eyes away from him. Her throat was tight as she added, "More trouble than you're worth."

Hesitantly she reached out to Sano, her fingers ghosted over his hand and she was surprised at the warmth she felt. The burns, she thought, must be serious if he was warm. She stroked the back of his hand gently, mindful of the burns and watched as his face started to shift from contorted to something more serene.

She pulled back and whispered again, "More trouble than you're worth."

The Witch never noticed the way the light flickered slightly as their human roommate watched from the slightly open door. Lyrial stared in pure confusion at the sight in front of her...didn't Kaya hate Sano? Why...why was she being so kind to the Vampire? The petite woman clutched the crucifix at her neck as she tried to sort through her feelings but she came up with no answers as she watched the pair from the relative safety of the hallway.

Lyrial opened her mouth but no sound came out as she watched Kaya whisper something under her breath and the bright burning sores on Sano's chest, face and arms, cooled and blackened. And she heard Kaya say quietly, "Not that you'll know or notice."

Another "redo" piece. This was based off the 2010 "Fixed" piece (seen here: [link] ). This time I spent much more time on the piece, which I hope shows, and I like the feel this picture gives in comparison to the last one.
