Part Two
“Comet’s curiosity.”
Comet Kitsune was a young monk in her order, just fresh out of training and only recently having been granted her monk’s name. As a monk it was her job to travel the lands, fighting evil and setting right what was wrong. However, the reality of it the evil to be fought and the wrongs to be righted were mostly hogged by the monks with higher reputations and she was mostly wandering around trying to stave off boredom. She was thin and athletic with strong arms and long legs. Her hair was red and messy and came almost to her shoulders. She wore a light orange top and black and white athletic pants. On her wrists were metal bangles that gave her a bit more damage in strikes. Her feet were bare and unblemished. She had sharp arches and long well-formed toes. Her nails were painted orange and were still perfectly painted. She was very proud of her feet and liked how different things felt beneath her sensitive soles.
She had spent the morning looking over the city that had supposedly been taken over by ninjas. It seemed the mayor and most of the guards had fled the town and there was not much activity. She expected to find a city held in the cruel grip of the order of the thousand ninjas but instead saw it was a lazy day where most people were up to business as usual. In recent years so many tyrants and evil organizations had come through the land that most people just kinda went with it. The butchers, the innkeepers and the people of the village just kept getting up in the morning and going to work.
The ninjas for their part were mostly just enjoying the lazy day with the captured down. Most were still asleep or just walking around. Comet had encountered a few of them and attacked them. They offered little resistance, all mostly being low ranking ninjas. After a few fights she was no closer to liberating the town nor gaining any points toward her reputation.
Just as she was going to give up, she saw someone she could not believe she found. It was Ukuni, a super high ranking ninja in the order and a legendry fighter. She heard the legend; she was an ex-monk, and she was formidable in nearly every style of known combat. For a brief moment Comet considered confronting her but even with her confidence she knew that she was not strong enough yet to take on Ukuni alone.
Comet decided to follow Ukuni, if she could not defeat her maybe she could find out what she was up to. She went from shadow to shadow, staying super cautions not to be spotted. Soon Ukuni went in to one of the buildings and Comet decided she would move in for a closer look. She snuck round the side and climbed up on a windowsill. She leaned, keeping her body as close to the side of the window and peeked in. She saw Ukuni walk inside, hang her sword up and start to undo her boots.
“She’s taking her boots off?” Comet asked to herself. Ukuni mostly wore boots but she was a monk and her feet were actually as legendary as her backstory. She was considered to have the nicest feet of her class at the monk academy and Comet could not believe her luck. She wanted to confirm if the legends were true. Ukuni slid one foot after another out of her boots revealing her pale feet and emerald green painted toenails. Comet’s eyes went wide, not only were Ukuni’s feet as amazing as she had been told they were in fact the nicest feet she had ever seen.
Comet snapped out of her distracted state when Ukuni stepped forward and put her feet in a hot water bath and started to relax. Ukuni was not up to some dastardly plan or nefarious scheme she was just doing as the other ninjas were doing and relaxing. Comet was frustrated, she could not fight her, she could not win the day, but she had to find some way to get the others to take her seriously. She had found Ukuni, she could not let this opportunity go to waste.
“I can’t beat her but maybe I can rob her.” Comet thought to herself. “Steal from a ninja, that would be pretty noteworthy!”
Comet looked around, noticing Ukuni’s masterwork Katana hanging on the wall. If she were to make it off with that she would be a legend. But she feared the wrath that might come with it. She was pretty sure Ukuni would hunt her to the end of the earth if she took it. Her gaze went down and settled on Ukuni’s boots. Thrills went through her body at the thought of taking Ukuni’s boots.
Without more thought or consideration, Comet slid down off the windowsill and carefully made her way around the building and to the door. She crouched down to the floor and crawled forward. She slowly and silently opened the door and slid the top half of her body into the room. Ukuni had her back to her and was playing with the water. She lifted on of her perfect feet out, the light glistening upon her et flesh, the clean water dripping off of her toes. Comet forced herself to snap out of her daze and quickly grabbed Ukuni’s boots and slid back out, closing the door behind her. She quickly knotted the laces together and threw them over her shoulder before taking off running.
Comet’s heart raced and all of the negative things that Ukuni might do to her flashed through her head. Just when she thought that Ukuni might not have noticed and she had got away with it she heard footsteps rushing up to meet her. She looked back and saw the black clad ninja running toward her with bare feet and her sword on her back. Comet immediately felt regret in her decision, realising how fast and ferocious the person she stole from was. She dodged and weaved though buildings, over food carts and around townspeople. Every attempt to loose the pursuing ninja failed and she grew ever closer every moment.
She decided that her only chance was to get to the forest, she was good at climbing, and it might end up her only chance. She cut through a construction site, seeing all manner of half-built structures and equipment laying around. It was likely in full swing before the town was taken, now left abandoned as if the people had just given up and walked off the site. She saw a yellow puddle before her and decided to dodge it. It seemed to be glue and she decided she could never live down the embarrassment should she get stuck in it.
She vaulted over a pile of logs and pushed herself to sprint to the forest. She could almost feel Ukuni at her heels, thoughts of her sword cutting into her flooded into her mind. She pushed herself as fast as she could, soon reaching the tree line and vaulting up into the trees, she leapt from branch to branch, at near exhaustion. She came to a stop at a defensible position and turned around, hands up ready to fight. She expected Ukuni to be right there and the fight begun in an instant. However, Ukuni was not there, in fact she was no where in sight.
“Did I loose her?” Comment asked herself in a whisper. “No way, she’s too good for that!”
She looked around, desperately trying to find Ukuni and where she was going to attack from. After several minutes of readiness, she finally allowed herself to admit that Ukuni was not around. She grew curious, she knew she had not lost her and doubted very much that she had given up. The boots were fine boots and she knew Ukuni was rather fond of them. She took the boots from her shoulders and examined them. She could not believe Ukuni had been wearing them mere moments ago. She looked at them, wondering if she dared do what she wanted to do.
Comet Kitsune looked around as if anyone was watching before leading in and smelling one of the boots. Though Ukuni likely wore them barefoot the smell was actually quite pleasant. It was the right amount of sharp but also sweet and inviting. “Damn Ukuni, how do your feet smell so good?”
Comet snapped herself out of her daze and put the boots back on her shoulder. She decided to hang them on the tree and go to investigate why Ukuni was not ambushing her. She made a note of the tree before climbing down and carefully retracing her steps back the way she had come. There was no sign of Ukuni in the forest and soon she was back at the edge of the construction site. What had happened that made her stop in the open? She looked around carefully but as she came around a pile of debris, she saw Ukuni just standing in front of her.
“You!” Ukuni shouted, the hatred plain on her voice.
Comet leapt back and prepared to run; her eyes locked to Ukuni. The ninja launched forward as if to grab her, but she was halted almost immediately. A stretching sound was heard and Ukuni was pulled back in place to where she started from. Comet slid to a stop a few feet away and looked down, seeing what she had avoided in her run and Ukuni had not.
“You stepped in the glue!” Comet said, almost in disbelief.
“I’m going to tear you apart!” Ukuni growled, looking like she was about to ounce but thinking of how she might accomplish it. “Where are my boots?”
Comet took a breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She knew Ukuni wanted to murder her but the longer she went from doing it meant only one thing. She moved a bit closer, careful to avoid a second glue puddle a few feet away from Ukuni’s side. “You can’t get out of that can you?”
“The sound of your voice infuriates me!” Ukuni snapped, her toes curling slightly locked in limited motion by the powerful glue. “Bring my boots to me or it will be your end here and now.”
“I don’t think so.” Comet replied as she crossed her arms. “I think you are completely stuck.”
Ukuni’s face went red as if she had so much more anger than she had any way to express. “Even if I was…what good would admitting do?”
“Well, it seems to put me in an interesting bargaining posture.” Comet replied as she crossed her arms. “Because this site is abandoned and the city is pretty much crippled so I am like your only hope on getting out of that.”
“I will find my own way out of this!” Ukuni retorted, attempting to stomp a foot but the glue stretched and stopped the lift almost as it started. “Or one of my comrades will come and bust me out of this.”
“It seems to me that they are all drunk, sleeping or gorging themselves.” Comet replied. “It could be days before one of them finds you here.”
Ukuni growled again and stained to step forward and get a hold of the pesky monk. Her muscles strained and her body tensed as she struggled to go forward. For several minutes she strained against the glue any progress being locked at a few inches before violently snapping her back. Again and again, she tried but the glue would not let her out of the spot she stood. Comet could not help but be entranced as she watched the glue assert it’s hold on Ukuni’s perfect feet. She found herself secretly cheering for Ukuni to defeat the glue despite what it would mean for Comet’s safety.
“Wow you are like batshit hella stuck in that crap.” Comet commented. “I can’t believe how tight it has you.”
Ukuni sighed as she caught her breath. “Yeah, it’s got me alright. I cant get out, is that what you wanted to hear.”
“Well kinda.” Comet replied. “I’ve heard of people being stuck in inescapable adhesives, but I am fascinated to see it in person.”
“So glad I could entertain you.” Ukuni replied, the venom in her voice not even remotely hidden. “So, you are going to stand there and gloat? Is that your plan here?”
“Actually, I am going to try and help you get out.” Comet admitted. “As long as you promise to give up on killing me.”
“I want my boots back.” Ukuni replied.
“Let me take them to show to some people then ill bring them back.” Comet suggested.
“Not a chance!” Ukuni scoffed. “Your life is all I will offer!”
“Then I should go.” Comet said as she turned around and began to walk away. “Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.”
Ukuni growled. “Wait…”
“Yes?” Comet asked, turning on her heel.
Ukuni took a deep breath, shame showing clearly on her face. “You can borrow my boots and I will not fight you if you return them undamaged and unworn by anyone other than me.”
“Deal!” Comet replied eagerly as she walked back. “Let’s get you out of that stuff.”
Ukuni narrowed her eyes. “Just to be clear you know I hate you right?”
“Utterly despised.” Comet conformed. “What have you tried already?”
“Brute strength gets me nowhere.” Ukuni admitted begrudgingly. “And my blade cant get any traction on it whatsoever.”
“Ok maybe our combined strength!” Comet suggested. “I may not look it but I am actually quite strong.”
“You’re right.” Ukuni said as she crossed her arms. “You don’t look it.”
“Let me take a look at it.” Comet replied as she moved behind Ukuni. “Try to get out, I will see if I can find a weakness in it.”
Ukuni clearly looked skeptical but as she had no further ideas on how to get herself free alone, she obliged. She struggled to move forward, the glue stretching at her heels, clutching the balls of hr feet and not relinquishing its death grip on her toes. She struggled to fight the stretch and resist the snap back, giving Comet as much time to examine her bonds as she could.
Comet had to fight from being distracted, Ukuni’s feet were every bit perfection up close as they were when she saw them from a distance. Her pale skin was unblemished and flawless. The glue stretched at it in playful ways and seemed to accentuate it in unpredictable ways. Just as she was tying to get a better look at Ukuni’s arches the glue snapped her foot back in place. Comet looked down confused. Despite the stretch and fight of many escape attempts when Ukuni’s foot was still the glue looked like the puddle had never been disturbed as if Ukuni’s feet had just freshly stepped in it.
“So yeah, this stuff doesn’t seem to have any exploitable weaknesses.” Comment admitted. “This glue is kinda amazing.”
“Amazing?” Ukuni scoffed. “Try standing in it.”
“Ok new tactic.” Comet suggested as she walked forward. “I’m going to get a hold of your leg and maybe our combined strength can break you out.”
Ukuni perked and eyebrow, trying to hold back her skepticism. “Well, I am out of things to try.”
Comet came to Ukuni’s side, careful to keep her feet out of the glue. She reached down, placing one hand behind Ukuni’s calf and the other on her ankle just above her heel. Both girls took a breath before jumping to action. Ukuni struggled to lift her held leg, adding her strength to Comet’s. Comet was stronger than she looked but even with her strength she was hard pressed to make much headway against the glue. They worked together, fighting the glues elasticity and struggling to get the foot away from the puddle. The glue stretched further than it had before adding almost another inch and a half to the stretch. However, as hard as both girls would pull it would not snap nor would it release from Ukuni’s skin.
“Keep pulling!” Ukuni managed, struggling to hide her pain from how far her skin was being stretched and the strain on her sole.
“I am giving you all the strength I have!” Comet managed. “I will break you free!”
As much as both girls pulled, as much as they strained the glue would not release the foot. It was pressed further but it was far from weakening in any way. The girls, their muscles would not hold forever and it was Comet’s grip that failed first. Ukuni’s smooth leg snapped out of her grip and slammed down to the ground. The brisk movement sent her off her balance and stepping back. She caught her breath and looked up at Ukuni with a look of shame and apology.
“You really are the worst.” Ukuni commented. “How you found a way to make this worse is beyond me!”
“Worse?” Comet asked. “I am trying to help you!”
“Look down.” Ukuni said, her gaze going to the ground by Comet’s feet.
Comet looked down to see what Ukuni was talking about, only to see her long slender feet both planted the second puddle of glue. She looked back up to Ukuni with a shocked look on her face. “Crap.”
