DRAKE (calling up the Jefferies tube to Dex): “Dex, we’re nearly out of ion torpedoes. We need those modifications to the deflector now!”
DEX (entirely out of sight, high up into the Jefferies tube): “I just need . . . a few . . . more . . . minutes.”
A circuit sparks somewhere up in the Jefferies tube causing a crackle and a flash of light that lights up Drake.
M-6 (over the intercom): “Captain to the bridge. The remaining Imperial vessels are approaching from the far side of Cestus IV. They’ll be within weapons range in moments.”
DRAKE (responding on the intercom): “Understood.” (Then turning back to Dex in the Jefferies tube.) “Dex, we’re out of time. It’s now or never.”
DEX (still working diligently): “Just . . . a few . . . more . . . minutes.”
More sparks and sizzles come from the Jeffries tube as Dex continues to ‘hot-wire’ the deflector.
M-6 (over the intercom): “Captain, several Gorn ships are approaching. Their commander would like to speak to you.”
DRAKE: “The Gorn? . . . All right, M-6. I’m on my way.”
