Flesh is the first collaboration by two unique Brisbane Artists- Holy Green Cow www.holygreencow.com and Clarissa Bones www.rawbonesphotography.com under the banner:
- IC BONES -
This collaborative series of photographs seeks to re-contextualise the classic nudes of 15th century renaissance into a postmodern digitally sterile world.
Subtle evoking the vanitas symbolism of Dutch masters, the images seek to remind us that whilst 'Everything is Meaningless', the colourful seeded fruits herald that life will go on... regardless.
Beyond this contrast between Life and Death, Flesh also exposes the raw textual qualities of the flesh of both 'fruits'... as exotic, succulent and enticing - fruit of the flesh and fruit of the earth.

This joint venture brings together the artistic talents of Holy Green Cow and Clarissa Bones in a way that showcases the best of both unique artist.
Proof that the sum can indeed be greater than the two parts.

Very impressive. You've taken a sexually charged photograph and used framing and lighting to, as you say, sterilize it, so that it retains all its symbolic richness without any of the visceral appeal. Wonderful work.

what a very unique concept. i love the nude images of the eras past. suggestion? can you go previous to the renaissance like maybe Greco/Roman?
also, while many think of the Victorian era as being very prudish there were actually some lovely nudes done with overly voluptuos figures that was absolutely amazing.
