Matt from Death Note
2. Where/when was your first convention?
Anime North 2008
3. What got you into cosplay?
My best friend cosplayed Mello from Death Note so it didn't take much convincing to get me to cosplay with her!
4. How long have you been cosplaying?
About 4 years
5. Who have you cosplayed in the past?
Matt from Death Note, Russia, America, Spain, and England from Hetalia, Tamaki Suoh from Ouran, Sister Sweden from SATW, Dark Link from LoZ, Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim, and Draco Malfoy from AVPM
6. Who is your favorite character to cosplay and why?
Tamaki Suoh without a doubt, he's just so fun and ridiculous...not to mention I get to be as corny as I am on the inside! Wooing lovely princesses is my natural calling -- I wish to make the world a beautiful place full of love and gentlemanly charm~
7. Who would you like to cosplay as in the future?
My dream cosplay would be a Big Daddy from bioshock, but on a more realistic level I've been really wanting to do Miria Harvent or Jacuzzi Splot from Baccano...though I'm very fickle about cosplay so my ideas change daily!
8. Why do you cosplay?
Cosplay for me is a form of expression and art. I love the creative aspects of making the costumes -- whether it is sewing the entire thing (which I've recently started doing) or piecing it together after hunting online and in consignment shops, it makes me feel like I am creating something to be proud of. Then there is the acting aspect, which is truly my favorite part -- I am always sure to pick characters with extreme personalities because I love to act and the more over-the-top I am able to be, the better! I feel so free when cosplaying, I can be whoever I want to be without any judgment while surrounded by people with similar interests and loves --the people I meet through conventions and cosplay are always amazing!
9. What conventions do you normally attend?
The only conventions I regularly attend are Anime North and Tora-con. I've gone to a lot of other conventions, however, not regularly!
10. What is your favorite convention and why?
Anime North is definitely my favorite! It's fairly close to WNY, pretty large, the people there are all very friendly and outgoing, and I love the outdoor aspect of the convention! It's so nice to get to meet new people while lounging outside (plus there are so many ice cream trucks for frosty delights!), I would highly recommend it to anyone!
