Always wondered about those signposts and why there would be a pic of Sonic on the backside when Eggman is the one who put them there... then I got the idea that maybe our blue hero just speed paints himself when he runs past
Drew him in a different style than what I usually do because I wanted to try something that looks closer to modern Sonic for a change and especially since it is a game related pic.

I honestly never thought about it before. I always just assumed it was a sign that had Eggman on one side, and Sonic on the other and when you finished a level, Sonic simply turned the sign around so the side with him on it would be seen. Rather silly once I think about it because a simple gust of wind could cause the side with Eggman to be seen again. Your idea is a hundred time better! If Sonic can run at the speed of sound, seems like he could do other things such as painting, very quickly too.

Careful there, trying to rationalize cartoons and video games will make you go crazy. LOL! Maybe the rings turn invisible when Sonic touches them and they form an invisible force field around him?

Maybe Mario is dreaming? But then there are some things out there that can't be rationalized and even trying to just takes all the fun out of the game in the first place.
I got that idea from seeing how nothing can hurt him if he only has just one ring, is really no different than the force fields you can get for him from jumping on these boxes. You're welcome! Glad to see I'm not the only one out there who tries to "rationalize" the Sonic universe. Well excuse me if the whole "Project Shadow" situation screams something right out of "Operation Paperclip" to me. LOL!

I just happened to hear about the "hallow earth" theory around the same time I played Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles for the first time and wondered why Sonic's "word" just couldn't be the interior of this planet.

Yeah, I'm waiting for myself to write a new chapter too. I really do intend to finish it...someday. I've just had too many other things going on recently. But I really do intend to finish it...or at least write a fourth chapter.

Me too! I just need to get "sparked" again. I kinda need ideas, like should the protagonist and Pippin come upon Mobius rather quickly or should it take them awhile? Why was Tails in the cave in the first place?

Hm, could be interesting if she had a little time with Tails before they go to Mobius without dragging it out too long either, so I guess my answer is - something in between. You could always go for the classic 'out of curiosity I went through a magic portal that binds these two worlds together'-routine

I was originally planning to go with "curiosity killed the "cat", or at least caused him to get hurt. No portals though, like I said, it's the earth, just inside it. No one really knows where Mammoth Cave actually ends.
