All they said is that inklings can't swim. They never said they can't touch water all together.

Actually, that's been disproven. They actually have their ink highly compressed into inksacs. Their ink is so densely packed, it makes them denser than the water, which is why they can't swim. Also, it also showed their ink sacs in one of the scrolls, as well as how their ink disappears after a turf war. Their ink gets eaten up by microbes in the air, so them having bodies made of ink isn't possible. Just wanted to bring that up. Not trying to start a war here.
