considering chrom is an echo fighter, just goes to show that if he was in smash 4 as a playable instead of lucina, and had the clone moveset of his. The fans would still complain about him, but it's the present day and the fandom is a bunch of hypocrites who like clones now over some delusion that they won't take up roster space when really they do take up data that woulda been used for other fighters to get in.

Sakurai has said himself that echo fighters don't take up space of other characters, if an echo wasn't there they simply wouldn't have made a new character for that slot

They're not wasting it because if they didn't put an echo fighter in that space, there would be nothing else to fill that space

Um yes there would. That empty space could have been used for a fighter who would have had an original moveset and not be a cheap clone. It doesn't matter if it takes more time to make, it'd be far more exciting than seeing another echo fighter, which right now is the majority of the newcomers. Which is showing that the game is being rushed compared to the other games in the series.
There are so many characters that have either wasted potential or just aren't considered because sakurai is proving to be very narrow minded and is just going with what is easiest. which is a real bad sign if ya ask me

Echo fighters are put in where there wouldn't normally be anything else, new fighters are already decided while echo fighters are quick decisions and additions, they simply would not be making any new fighters for those slots, regardless of how many echoes they add
