Description
These are all the chapter titles for what would have been the entire story of Abstract Gender. Obviously it only got through chapter 9 sadly. I’m just too big of a flake to commit to such a project. I’m honestly shocked it got as far as it did.

Chapter 10; What Tomorrow Brings was the chapter in which the webcomic stopped, and it’s possible that for some reason this part of the story was cursed as both the comic and novel never got past it. But the main part of it was dealing with the death of Brian’s mother. It was going to be a car crash and a drunk driver in the novel, as a lot of people didn’t like the gun toting mugger of the comic.

Chapter 11; Road to Recovery was a follow up to chapter 10, with Rachel and Katie doing their best to help Brian through the hard times. This would have been the start of Brian spending even more time as Brittney, which would have, in the second book when they’re in college, seen Brian decide to become Brittney full time.

Chapter 12; Hardball was another chapter much like Flip Side, where we turned focus off of Rachel for a brief moment and learned more about some other characters. This one mainly focused on Jessie and Allison. Jessie being the outspoken member of the volleyball team and Allison being the school mascot and an out lesbian. The two had previously been BFFs until Allison confessed her feelings to Jessie, who outed her to the school.

Chapter 13; Face of Mania… we’ve had so many serious chapters, it’s time for a light hearted one, right? Wrong. Face of Mania was about Rachel becoming suspicious about Willow, the new girl— I don’t remember if I introduced Willow yet in the novel— I know she had appeared in the comic before Gods. But spoiler, it was actually William Montgomery who was suspicious about Rachel and Ryan being the same— so he went to where he knew Ryan was last— and ends up becoming the next experiment. However he has his whole memory erased and is a whole new person.

Chapter 14; Group of Giggling Girls is as promised a more relaxed chapter, pretty much turning the couple comics of the spa day into a whole blown chapter. There was more that was going to happen but I can’t remember exactly what.

Chapter 15; Walking in Heels was the obligatory prom chapter.

Chapter 16; Revolving Door would have dealt with where everyone was going to college and also seen the graduation of all the senior students. Rachel, Brian, Katie, Andie, Travis, Willow, Allison, Jessie, Jennifer, Emily… I think there were one or two more…

Chapter 17; High Tide, summer break! Rachel actually goes to live with her uncle, who was also aware of what was going on. She gets a job at a surf shop. I’m sure I had more planned than that.

Chapter 18; Inbound is the start of the final third of the story and sees the cast going to college. Rachel and Andie are roomies. Brian has a weird goth roommate, Travis is also around. Katie is going to a different school. It would introduce a bunch of new characters as other students in the dorm. I think Emily may have also been in Rachel’s dorm.

Chapter 19; Green Eyed Monster is a story which I think was actually started really early in the comics but got moved way down here for the novel— and that is of Brittney’s modeling career starting up. At this point Brian is beginning to spend a lot of time as Brittney.

Chapter 20; A Night to Forget. The cast was going to go to a party and of course the main character was going to drink too much and hilarity would ensue. I know someone was going to try to force themselves in Rachel and Travis was going to show up to help, probably getting a fair share of lumps and bruises in the processes. Travis would help Rachel back to the dorms and the other girls would let him stay on a couch (as Rachel would be passed out on his lap). This would also be the beginning of Rachel finally accepting her feelings for Travis— who proved to be a true gentleman despite the opportunities.

Chapter 21; Her Secret— I’m— not entirely sure what this chapter was. It may have been Brittney officially coming out as Trans, even saying she wants her middle name to be Freya— her mothers name. Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s what this chapter was. It’s the last opportunity before the final push to the end.

Chapter 22; Dog of War was dealing with that goth roommate of Brian’s. Turns out they were another experiment and the scientists had full control of them. The young man used to be a pretty and peppy girl, and was now being used as a tool. It’s also lightly hinted that those who have been altered are better physically, and this goth guy— I forget his name— is of a near superhuman strength.

Chapter 23; Live Without Regret I think is when Rachel finally accepted her new life in full and wanted to start enjoying herself, she confesses to Travis her feelings. But a dark cloud looms overhead.

Chapter 24; Rolling With the Punches has the scientists sending the goth soldier after Rachel, with the intend of tying up their final loose ends.

Chapter 25; Standing in the Fire— Rachel finds where the scientists are holed up and goes to face them directly, but she has no intention of coming back. She has a final confrontation with the goth, who she trips and pushes out a window. She reaches to help but the goth just gives her a thankful smile and let’s go. Clearly a little bit of their old self was fighting back. She had a final confrontation with the scientists, which reveals she has brought gasoline with her, and she lights the place up.

The end has the fire department responding to the fire, someone who knew where Rachel was going alerted her friends (it was probably Evan) and they’ve arrived. The fire department pulls an unconscious Rachel from the building. The only person alive they found. It ends with Rachel and Travis talking outside the hospital— I believe she intended to reveal her truth, and Travis would accept her.
