Description For Christmasings, I've been going mad making gifts, since I'm pretty much broke. With the proceeds from a few sales, I managed to buy the materials to make these pendants- various iolite gems and silver-plated wire. Iolite is a beautiful, changeable, powerful stone, and I thought it would be just the thing to give to my sisters and mother (and one for myself, too, though I haven't made it yet). The point is that even though each of us is quite different, in attitude, belief and taste in fashion, etc., we're also family, and alike in many things that outweigh our differences. The one on the far left is my mother's, with a larger iolite cab and 3 tiny (itty-bitty 3x5mm) marquise-cut ones fanned out across the top, one for each daughter. The middle one goes to my eldest sister, and I was trying for a sort of flowery look, because she's got amazing gardening talents and something about flowers just make me think of her. The one on the right is my middle sister's, and I'm proud of the way it came out. With hers, I wanted it to be more open, less formal-looking, somewhere between a spider web and a dreamcatcher.

I really hope that they like them, I put a LOT of thought and effort into them. (I say I can wrap any stone, but 3x5mm is cutting it close, difficult just to hold on to.)

One of the highlights of my gift-unwrapping was a box from my eldest sister- she had gone out of her way to do a wire-wrapped pendant for me, because I usually make them for everyone else. It really touched me, because I don't think she's done much wrapping, but she did this for me. It's beautiful, and I may post a photo of it sometime, but for now I'm just going to enjoy the fact that someone loves me that much. My family rocks, I love my sisters!

So these are a set, not the kind to be worn all at once, but the kind that echo eachother and the people who wear them. And eventually when I finish my own, the set will be complete.

That awesome. One looks almost like ripples in water, one looks like a bunch of flowers growing, and one looks like a spiderweb. (Did I get them all right?)

Anyways I loved the back story behind this one. It's just one of the little happy moments in an artists life.
