Description This is Amaterasu, the Japanese goddess of the sun, and according to Shintoism, ancestor of Imperial House of Japan, she is the daughter of the god Izanagi, along with her brothers, Susanoo, the god of the sea and storms, and Tsukuyomi, the moon god.

After his failed attempt to find his wife in the Yomi (the Japanese underworld) Izanagi proceeded to wash himself as a purification rite to remove the aroma of death after leaving that place, from this act Amaterasu and his brothers were born, the first was born from his left eye, Tsukuyomi was born of his right eye, and Susanoo was born of his nose.

Her father then divided the powers of the sun, the moon and the storms into his 3 children, Amaterasu touched the sun, Tsukyomi the Moon, and Susanoo the storms.

But one of his sons, Susanoo, wanted more, yet, aware of the danger that facing his father would entail, he waited for him to enter the divine dream, before facing his sister, Amaterasu.

Both siblings decided to compete in a contest of divine creations, exchanging gifts, Amaterasu received a sword that broke and chewed in 3 pieces from which 3 goddesses were born, and Susanoo received a necklace of stones that also broke and chewed in 5 pieces, which 5 gods were born.

Both declared themselves victors, and in a fit of rage, Susanoo destroyed his sister's sacred spinning mill, along with the rice crops he owned, and filled the temples with dung, Amaterasu pleaded with his brother to stop, but he did not want to. hear and cut a horse and threw it against one of the heavenly spinners, killing her.

Horrified by those acts, Amaterasu decided to enclose herself in a cave that she sealed with a rock, as a result, the world was filled with darkness, people's crops began to die, and demons began to emerge of the shadows.

the other gods gathered in front of the cave where Amaterasu got to devise a plan to get her out of there, they placed a mirror in front of the entrance and Ame no Uzume, the goddess of happiness, dance and fertility, began to dance. naked on a bathtub, causing the other gods to start making a lot of noise and fuss, causing Amaterasu to lean out and ask the god closest to her what was happening, he replied that they were celebrating the arrival of a new goddess, she looked then in the mirror, marveling at her own reflection, and while she was distracted, the other gods closed the cave entrance and convinced her to return with all of them to the heavenly plane.
