This originally was to be a mere doodle, but the smudge tool convinced me to go further...

I used a similar pose from a screencap as reference.

hehe, well once you're my age, you'll be drawing just as easily! That is, if you keep up your artwork and NEVER stop practicing!

I seriously doubt it...

Seriousness and doubt are only poison to art... they only hurt you.

Whenever I seriously doubted myself (mainly in high school), I would stop drawing because I knew there were better artists out there. However, I realized that the best thing to do was to practice my ass off until I could be as good as one of those artists.

...so just work your butt off if you want to be good in art. That's what one of my closest friends did as well (honestly, she couldn't draw too well in middle school), and she's now one of the most talented people I know!

I have I've been working my butt off since I was 4 when I first started drawing, and still I haven't made as much progress as I wanted to. Oh well, I'll just have to crawl at the speed of a snail to get better....>.< So displeasing!

Really cool design. Very darn but at the same time sublime. I like it. A little bit more contrast in the coloring whould be great though.

Keep up the good work.

Now knowing what lies after the transisition from living to dead.

Death is practically short, though. You are swept off but before that one can lose their faith and start to wonder. That is worse than death.

Hehe, good thing I coped with that a long time ago, when I accepted the possibility of no god(s) or after-existence. ^^

Leen-Rouge In reply to rdsullivan [2006-02-08 08:14:08 +0000 UTC]

Indeed.

But before you leave this world you really do start to feel as if you wouldsurely fade into nothingness and thus be well, nothing.

Quite scary for most who even have gotten over it but experience these feelings through a close call or with a terminal illness and they know they would die soon.

rdsullivan In reply to Leen-Rouge [2006-02-08 08:24:03 +0000 UTC]

Aye, it is quite scary if one dwells on it. But as I was borne out of nothing (metaphysically speaking), I will be most satisfied to return to my beginnings. ^^

I think the biggest thing that made my faith start to disentigrate was the fact that none of the major religions mentioned anything of animals' souls. Thus, by mid-high school, I had come to the realization that perhaps our concepts of "soul" and "spirit" are eloquent ways of defining the higher cognitive and physiological processes in our bodies.

...for what is worse, the fear of what follows death, being alive with little to no cerebral activity, or the end of life itself?

Why thank you! (I have my rare moments! ) It was quite the pleasure relaying posts with you!

As another note, there have been times that I did not fear death at all, even if it were to catch me at an unexpected moment. This was not a suicidal feeling, but rather one of calm acceptance, as if sailing on calm seas for the day and finally coming to dock at the harbor. Perhaps at those moments, I would be in either a deep depression (everyone gets those, I guess) or in a state of profound thought, where I feel a calm satisfaction with my life so far. When I do fear death (which is most of the time), it's when I'm looking forward to some goal in the future, sharing time with those I love (I fear death more for their sake, for the thought of my parents and boyfriend eventually or unexpectedly dying severely pains me), or realizing that there is so much more knowledge and experience I want to gain.

Perhaps those moments of acceptance are akin to the buddhist's concept of nirvana? Detaching myself from everything, including my own identity, and accepting the final step of our earthly life with peace?

...though I don't know if I could ever detach my mind from the imagination that fuels my art!

I know one thing, I don't really fear death either for my own sake, but for everyone elses.

The thought of them being upset over my death is more painful to think of than anything else.

Especially my husband. He is what motivates me.

But I agree definitely.

Oh yes, that is one of the main reasons why I hate flying! I know it's kind of a a silly fear, what with plane crashes being far fewer than fatal car accidents, but the massive grief of all the loved ones of the dead (especially the thought of my parents and boyfriend being sad) is too much for me to bear...

On a happier subject, I love the fact that you love Xenogears! Id was awesome! Have you played Xenosaga yet? (I know a good number of Xenogears-devout fans were not too impressed, but I personally love it in its own respect. Yes, it's nowhere near as good or long or complex as Xenogears, but it is still much better than 99% of the rpgs out there, plot-wise).

I hate flying. And deep water. And I have a sillier fear. Driving. D:

I played most of Xenogears, but...

The CD messed up because of my siblings! D,:!!

Before I played it, I kind of saw some stuff on it and I saw some spoilers on accident, though. XD

So I think I have enough information to make what I am making when it comes to my writing and drawing. I don't do fanart totally though. I just like to develop my characters because... I can't stand throw-ins.

I love the storyline. I love the music. I love practically everything about it. The battle system beats Final Fantasy's by a long shot.

ID owns. I don't see why people hate Fei so much though.

I haven't played Xenosaga yet... I was going to but my Husband's brother has the first one and we only have the second now and I don't want to get confused. D,: It looks so awesome though.

I mechs.

I wanted to smack someone when it kept glitching to where it couldn't play, but I knew what would happen in the end anyway but still...

I want it... Dustin's brother better hand that sucker back soon!
