Description
This stairs lead from the memorial for the victims of the ICE train accident on June 3, 1998 up to the street level of the rebuilt bridge. This had collapsed as a result of the impact of the interlocked carriages of the train and had buried parts of the train underneath it. The view along the central railing evokes the idea of an ascent after death (which I personally do not believe in). The storm clouds symbolize a very present threat, which I feel as the trains race past at undiminished speed at this point.
