Well usually you can ride around and do nothing but in Undead Nightmare (which is an extra chapter for the game) you're pretty much always chased by zombies and you have to clear out cemetaries and cities over and over again and the zombies can run pretty fast and can pull you off the horse and manage to kill you after just a couple of hits and you can rarely get away to regain health cause they gang up on you easily.
tl;dr: Zombies can be such a pain.
