I've been trying & struggling with backgrounds and working in black & white to create enough texture and depth. Sometimes the panels feel very busy or not interesting enough. Sometimes I think I'm doing a great job with the screentones then they turn to mud during the export. I'm not sure what my problem is but it's a learning experience.

In this panel, I thought it came together halfway decent by incorporating tones and hatching. The layout also has some depth to it which really made this feel more dynamic than other panels, which can feel so flat. Small realizations, small progress.
