Suffering from your abuse
As beautiful as you are
I wish I could be strong on my own

Pouring rain
I can feel it beating down
Blurring my view as the droplets hang
Right on my eyelids

It’s a deafening sound
Hearing your own foot steps
And no one else’s

The water in my shoes
Sends me into shivers
Could it be any darker now that I am walking alone?

Choosing which route will be safest
Which one has the least dark corners
And silent underpasses
Which one will carry me home unharmed

My umbrella sags
It has given up on me
Just like you have
