Description She grinned as her crosshair swayed over her target, the same one she had been stalking for the past month in this urban jungle. From apartment flats to office space, she had been tracking down his every move, going so far as to map out his daily schedules, and now the  scope her rifle was firmly locked onto him.

He was just sitting there on a coffee shop pattio, drinking his beverage, taking his sweet time. Riley was almost glad to see him enjoying himself, considering he was about to be shot  through  the neck.

She always aimed for the neck, less likely to survive, and more difficult to achieve. That and the fact it would both kill human and synthetic alike in a single bullet. The barrel of her rifle stuck outside just a handful of inches, not even being noticeable in the industrialized city scape.

As she steadied her rifle one more time, she took a deep breath. Everything was going to end for this man, he would barely feel a thing other than the .308 caliber round ripping through his neck.

She squeezed  the trigger her Remington MSR, letting a single round fly across the street, ripping through the wind and into his throat. Or at least, it would halve, if not for the random bystander who happened to stand up.

She saw the attractive young woman fall back without the slightest change in her expression. Karenna had now ended the life of a seemingly innocent person, for whom she had no bounty or contract.

Riley watched as everyone paniced and ran, yet no one bothered to check on the person who'd been gunned down. Much like the near by civilians, Riley paniced. She immediatly examined her surroundings, her eyes scanning around the bleak one room apartment.

Her eyes locked onto the open closet, which she ran to. She stowed her rifle onto the upper shelf, the closed the sliding closet doors. She then darted towards the door to the hall.

She slipped through the door and closed it as fast as she had opened it, within the blink of an eye. She quickly darted down the hall and to the elevator door. She mashed the call button, but it was obvious it would take to long.

Riley sighed, knowing she would have to take the stairs. As she ran down the staircase, she wished she had worn more apropriate clothing for running, or any thing more breathable than a hoodie and cut-off jeans.

Soon, after a solid ten minutes of running down stairs in combat boots, she reached the ground floor of the seemingly empty building. She then dashed through the front doors and onto the street.

No cars drove by on such an empty street, and seemingly no police or paramedics. She had already pulled strings to delay the arrival of any life emergency responders, just to increase the chance of her target. That was an option she was now regretting taking.

She was soon on the patio of the coffe shop, and her eyes quickly locked onto the lifeless body on the ground. Riley rushed over to the young woman dressed in tattered black and gray apparel. She kneeled down to examine the person, trying to see just where they had been shot.

"It'll be okay..." Riley said as she rubbed her hand across the woman's black shirt, brushing her scarf aside. The young woman did little more than moan in reply, not even flinching. Riley soon deduced the bullet had torn right through her heart.

Riley briefly froze as she realized there was no way this beautiful young woman would die within a few seconds. Riley reached both her hands out to the womans gorgeous face and drew her vision to her own two eyes.

"I'm sorry I did this to you." She said in a solemn voice as life slipped from the woman.

Riley gently let go of her face, leaving her be as she heard a familiar whirr of sirens. She pressed her left hand onto her victims chest, checking for a heart beat one last time, yet all she found was a warm liquid that dripped from a still chest.

Riley frowned as the young womans fell still, then let out a sigh. She soon heard foot steps mushing up near her, all saying how she needed to move. Riley had heard no sound but the sirens ever since she stared into her victims silver eyes.

She sooned stood up and stepped back letting the paramedics retrieve the woman, all while keeping her eyes locked with hers.

"Who are you?" asked a nearby voice. She exited her transfixed state on the woman to see one of the paramedics, who only kept their eyes locked with her, awaiting a response.

She had no idea what to say, because obviously the truth would get her arrested. "I'm her uh... girlfriend." She knew that posing as her significant other would allow her to ride along, to see if they could actually save the innocent girl.

The paramedic nodded, and gestured for her to follow. She climbed into the back of the ambulance, taking a seat next to the stretcher on which her victim layed. She gazed down to her emotion less face, still in nearly the same pose she had been in when Riley reached her.

The paramedic soon began to hook up numerous devices to the woman, multiple of which entered her gunshot wound.

"She's gonna pull through," said the paramdic, getting Riley's attention. Riley nodded, not even believing how this woman could live.

"You can hold her hand if you want." said the paramedic. Riley thought for a moment, then nodded. She realized she was going to have to seem more romantic, so she clenched her victims  right hand and continued to gaze into her eyes.

So many things had changed in the past hour for her, she had lost the target she had been stalking for the past month, wounded an innocent civillian, and most likely lost her favorite rifle. Now all she could do was attempt to think of what she would say to her victim, if anything.

She sighed as she layed her head back, still holding the beautiful young womans hand, then closed her eyes for the long drive ahead.
