Description
One night, Dr. Todd Scott, headmaster of the Kent Nelson Institute and leader of the magic superhero team The Shadowpact, entered a police precinct building in Salem, MS. He was directed by the officers to the jail cells, and in an otherwise-empty cell was Todd’s younger sister, Jennifer-Lynn Scott. Todd and Jenny-Lynn, both orphans from two different sets of deceased parents, were both adopted during infancy by an older couple, Alan Scott and Canton Thorne. Their fathers raised them as well as they could, until their deaths a little less than a decade ago, but Jenny-Lynn has always had anger issues. Nothing biological or medical was discovered about the root of her issues, they were always sort of there. She tries her best to restrain herself, but apparently her anger won out this night. She was arrested for assault after instigating a bar fight and injuring three burly bikers and one of the arresting officers (biting off his ear), and this wasn’t the first time something like this occurred. Jenny-Lynn pleaded with her brother Todd to pay her bail and get her out, but Todd refused and said she need a night behind bars to think and cool her heels. Todd left to return tomorrow and pay her bail, but Jenny-Lynn was enraged and thrashed through the bars, swiping at anyone close by. That night, while Jenny-Lynn tried to sleep, the cop she injured in the bar entered the darkened cell block, leading some other dangerous thugs he let out of their cells. The cop is corrupt and he told the thugs that he would let them go free if they beat the crap out of her for retaliation. They agreed and the ganged up on her in her cell. Just as things looked bleak, a red energy bolt flew through the halls of the precinct and struck the injured Jenny-Lynn! As the goons were blasted back, her skin turned crimson and she began glowing with an evil red luminescence! Now angrier and stronger than ever, Jenny-Lynn floated past the unconscious thugs, approached the terrified officer who wanted retribution, and blasted his other ear off with an energy blast from her hand! As if on instinct, Jenny-Lynn left the precinct and rocketed into the sky. In space, she flew in the direction she was subliminally told to fly. She landed on an alien world, one under siege by aliens of different races wielding the same crimson power as her. A titanic alien man calling himself Arkillo, accompanied by a cat name Dex-Starr, welcomed her to “The Five Inversions”, an intergalactic army of vengeance powered by the Starhearts. Currently, the Inversions are assaulting a research facility containing components that Atrocitus, the leader of the Five Inversions, needs. Atrocitus himself appeared before Jenny-Lynn and promised her she can keep the power of the Starheart if she follows him to the end of his glorious campaign. Now addicted to the power to unleash her rage on all she sees fit, Jenny-Lynn agreed. The raid on the research facility was a success and the components were loaded into The Wall Of Rage, the Inversions’ capital ship and headquarters. The Inversion Soldiers retreated into the ship and the ship disappeared into the void of space before anyone, especially not the Spectrum Lantern Alliance, could intervene. In the main atrium of The Wall Of Rage, Atrocitus, accompanied by his majordomos Sorrow, Larfleez, Fatality, and Des’Py-Ro, explained his plan to their minions. They are building The Liberator, a weapon capable of destroying the planet Oa, one of the headquarters of the SLA, so they can liberate the Empire of Tears and use its power to destroy the entirety of the Spectrum Lanterns. The Inversion Soldiers, including Jenny-Lynn, chanted Atrocitus’ name in reverence upon hearing this plan. But there is one among them with other plans in mind… Back on Earth, Todd Scott arrived at the precinct building to find it torn up. He could sense his sister’s life energy radiating from it, mixed with a powerful magic energy…
Notes:
* The Inversion Soldiers are based on many evil Lantern bearers from the original comics, but all changed to red and using Starhearts instead of Lantern Devices.
** Arkillo from the original comics was a Yellow Lantern.
* Dex-Starr was originally “Dexter”, an Earth cat who saw his owner being killed by a home invader. His rage at himself for not being able to stop the invader is what attracted his Starheart to him.
* Todd’s and Jenny-Lynn’s adoptive father Canton Thorne is a reverse-gender version of Rose Canton, aka “Thorn”, from the original comics.
* The Liberator weapon is from the Green Lantern animated series.
