I'd hope Nintendo listen to fans someday and hire people like you to mass produce things like this piece of art.

Thanks from a big fam of Metroid and keep the good work .

Working exclusively for Nintendo... making their characters would be a dream come true.

Thanks

I think you deserve to achieve that dream, man... you saw the official metroid figures... they are just crap compared to your work .
I will keep an eye on your new creations, by the way.

It is pretty sad that they don't have decent figures of their own characters.

Wakeangel2001 [2010-05-30 04:27:06 +0000 UTC]

can you really call it a custom action figure when the whole thing is made from scratch?! I mean, WOW, this is the most amazing action figure I've seen period.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

red3183 In reply to Wakeangel2001 [2010-06-17 23:39:40 +0000 UTC]

Um... I think so? "Custom" action figure would imply that it was specially made by me. A "Customized" figure would be a more accurate word for what you are thinking about. Although I guess in the customizing world they just use the word "Custom" cause it's easier.

Thanks btw

Do you have a video on how to make your own action Figure?

red3183 In reply to LegionPrince [2010-04-20 05:35:39 +0000 UTC]

Sorry I don't. I spent about a year doing my own research online on how to sculpt, make molds, cast, and painting. Also spending about $1000 on tools and materials. Not really something I can point to you and learn in a weekend.

You've probably been asked this a million times adn are sick of it, but where can I get the joints, I've been searching a little and have only found places that'r out of em, is there something else i could use as well? I see it looks like they cost about $4.00 for like 6, well about that, is that right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

red3183 In reply to Crucifer01 [2010-04-09 22:12:15 +0000 UTC]

The 12" Samus was all custom made, joints and all.

Crucifer01 In reply to red3183 [2010-04-10 09:41:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, first off let me say I've never done something like what you've done before, but have always wanted to since I was a kid (use to take broken action figures adn make new ones out of em.) I've used the smooth on and resin before, but for making jewelery, so I'm a little familiar with those products.

What you did looks fantastic!

You say you made the joints too, I thought you said you used those Revoltech joints, did you change it in the end or something? I finally found the Revoltech on ebay yesterday, all I kept finding was places that were sold out when i was first searching! LOL! XD What was the little tubes or what ever it was to make the hing points on the tip of the foot and some other places that I saw? Please let me know, cuz I don't have a clue on how to do something like this.

Oh, did you make the molds so that the joints fit into the mold or made it so the molds have the points to insert the joints into and apoxy it or something, I think I read something about you using apoxy, maybe.

Oops another question, hom much did you sell these for each? Just wondering.

I hope I'm not buggin you or anything like that, so please forgive me if I am.

red3183 In reply to Crucifer01 [2010-04-10 17:14:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh, the revoltech joints were used on the 7" Samus. Yeah, I don't really remember where I got the joints from. Some Japanese site. Last time I tried to buy more, I came up with the same situation, all sold out on all sites I came across.

The "tubes" for the joints were "tension pins" from the hardware store. They are also sometimes called "roll pins".

I'm not sure I understand the question about joints fitting into molds....

Average was $500-600 each.

Crucifer01 In reply to red3183 [2010-04-10 17:41:14 +0000 UTC]

The joints thing was because I thought you used the revolver joints, makes more sense with the pins though.

So, you used the pins adn then what, cut them off, how did you hide the tips so they aren't so visable, I don't see them in the pics, looks smooth and nice?

red3183 In reply to Crucifer01 [2010-04-10 17:55:36 +0000 UTC]

After I put them in, I filled the holes with epoxy putty, sanded, and painted to hide them.
