Description
Hi ❤️During my therapy appointment this week, I noticed a bug across the room on the top(?) of the door, just chilling there and occasionally moving around a little bit.
But after the appointment was over (and being briefly reminded by our parents? I think?) that the bug was still there, I grabbed a sandwich bag and carefully got the bug. A boxelder bug I think? Although I could be wrong? Actually, now that I think about it more and have looked up boxelder bugs and stink bugs, I think that the bug was a stink bug? Anyway, I had to step up onto the couch and stand on it in order to get the bug though, I’m pretty sure that I’m not supposed to do that.
It took quite awhile to find a safe place to release the bug, I was concerned about the lack of plants and because the sun was beating down and there were birds and I didn’t want to leave the bug friend somewhere to instantly be in danger. Sadly, I had a really difficult time finding a place. I ended up letting the bug go on top of this a stack of bags of mulch which had sticks, pine cones, old leaves, dead foliage(?) on top, given the color of the bug and that this particular area was out of direct sun light (still some sun shining through thr branches of the trees above us?), and moving some of the contents around, hopefully I was able to make a safe enough place for the bug.
Whilst searching for a place to release my little friend and talking to him/her (don’t judge me, ok?), we had stopped near a bird feeder, maybe the only remaining one at the time? I’m not sure but I think so? Our Dad was working on multiple things in the yard. C:>
Anyhoo, a cute little bird landed on the feeder. Bird friend was surprisingly close, much to my joy. Not close enough to touch I don’t think (not that I tried.) but still, pretty close.
Surprised by ‘suddenly wild bird near me’, I wasn’t sure what to do so I just offered a soft “Hi.”
Sadly, the bird flew away. But I think that the interaction went good, the bird didn’t seem to be afraid of me, more like ‘I got my seed, I’ma bounce.’.
Hopefully it was a pleasant experience for the bird too. Or at least not a stressful one. The fact that I used to feed the chickadees myself on the front porch may have helped in the bird, to me, seeming relatively lax about my presence there. Being soft spoken can be a good thing when it comes to animals, especially small ones, young ones, elderly ones and wild ones of course.
But yeah, it was pretty neat. I think that the bird was a chickadee? But again, I could be wrong. He/she was very cute though.
