Description
So everyone in my zoology class (at school) this week had the challenge presented to us to create our own fish. We had to come up with a new species and make it seem like this fish could really happen and come to be. I decided to go the creepy deep sea route. Below are all the specks of the fish and the form we had to fill out to define our fish.Common name: The Unseen Redjaw
Scientific name: Airtos erythrgnarth
Traits: Anglerfish like jaw, Large eyes, Lure, "Headlights" or bio luminescence behind its eyes, 5 gills, a super long, thin, elongated body, detachable jaw, large and small transparent teeth.
Which part of the ocean does your fish live in?: The deepest parts of the sea. Below 5500 ft
a) How do you know?: They are lighter on the bottom and darker on top, they have bio luminescence, have large eyes, and are red.
What does your fish eat?: Anything it can fit into its mouth. They will eat things larger than themselves if needed.
a) How do you know?: Because of how deep they live, food is hard to come by. Also because of their detachable jaw.
Does your fish give live birth? Is this an advantage or a disadvantage?: Yes they give live birth. They do so because eggs are hard to keep and place that deep down. The babies come out ready to hunt as well.
Explain why your fish is suited for the environment you created?: My fish is suited for the environment chosen because of it's color, looks, and hunting habits.
What would happen if the environment changed suddenly? Would your fish live? Why or Why not?: If the environment were to change to be warmer or colder my fish would adapt to live in the warmer or colder environment by changing its color slightly, also by changing the rate its blood is circulated. If the pressure were to change it would most likely die; unless it could find a way to change the pressure in its swim bladder safety.
Does your fish resemble a real fish? Which one?: My fish resembles a Deep sea Dragon fish.
