Description
That's correct old watchers, they're back and have no eyes! Now, for anyone that has never seen them, the oretraps were one of my earliest creations and was actually quite popular back in the day. They can luckily be found here redpanda7.deviantart.com/art/M…
First off, to make it seem like the oretraps could actually in a 1 block space I used the GI scale (which fellow Techne users will know of) to make the mob smaller without having to work with less pixels. And as for the design, well I may as well explain the change. In all honesty, I'm quite proud of the old ones mostly for the idea itself but also because it was an ok design for a starter. But now, I need something with a better model and better skin. So I gave them legs that actually would hold their wait, and gave them a mouth that looks like a mouth. A monstrous mouth, but a mouth nonetheless. Not only that, but for the first time I actually made a Nether variant. As usual, please read the descriptions below and leave a comment.
Oretrap
Mob Type: Aggressive
Health Points: 40
Attack Damage: 8 (Coal), 10 (Iron), 11 (Fossil), 12 (Lapis Lazuli), 14 (Redstone), 16 (Gold), 18 (Diamond), 20 (Emerald)
Spawn: Fake Ores, Mineshafts, Strongholds, Caverns
Drops: 1 - 3 Ores (depends on which variant)
Experience: 5 - 8
Usually operating with stealth, oretraps will pretend to be normal ores, but once the ore is mined instead of getting a lovely resource the player has this bugger jump at them. Luckily for players, these creatures are extremely rare and cannot swim. And that's where the weaknesses end. Before explaining their strengths, I'll point out a certain part about their rarity and variants. First off the oretraps might be rare, but depending on which ore variant they are, their rarity differs. Coal ore traps, for example, are the most likely oretraps to find whilst emerald oretraps are the rarest of them all. Not only that, but the more common they are then the faster they are (to make up for the common ones being weaker then rare ones). Whilst emerald oretraps are stumbling towards the player, coal oretraps are galloping straight at them. Any way, oretraps can also be found out of their disguises and pacing within packs of 3 - 5, though these can increase in size because whenever an oretrap touches a normal ore then the ore will break into another oretrap. The disguised ones can also increase their numbers because, like silverfish, once disturbed all nearby oretraps that are within ores will come out of their disguises. Oretraps are also invincible to arrows, unfortunately.
Nether Oretrap
Mob Type: Aggressive
Health Points: 40
Attack Damage: 10 (Nether Quartz), 12 (Nether Fossil)
Spawn: Fake Ores, Nether Fortresses
Drops: 1 - 3 Ores (depends on their variant)
Experience: 5 - 8
Exactly the same as their overworld cousins but fire proof, faster and have a 25% chance of setting things on fire.
