Hello! I mentioned 10 days back that I wanted to work on more than just fan art stuff and that I wasn't exactly pleased with the Amiibo Gang's current depiction. So I worked on new versions of them, starting with CoValt.

For CoValt, and the Amiibo Gang as a whole, I wanted him to fit the sci-fi technological setting of Mechtalios, a new area I made for the Etherrealm. This area is where a lot of technological items are created. So I took influence from various robot designs, including some old pieces I made like Valtmon and Valt's sprite form. I didn't want to lose his origin though, so I kept him humanoid. His hair is bit more orange, and as of this update, the bottom half of it is now light blue. When I first wrote this, his hair use to be all orange with a blue tip on one end, like with Ludger from Tales of Xillia 2. But while I was working on Blazing Blue Tribute, a friend of mine suggested a gradient that was originally intended for one of it's assets, but ended up making it into his official art. I'm quite happy with this change, honestly.

CoValt's palette consists of different shades of blue. However for this version, I flipped the positions of the lighter and darker blue that he's associated with. This change also allowed for his markings and eyes to glow. The part I'm most proud of is the sword and sheath. CoValt's sword is intentionally modeled after a space shuttle, carrying over one of his interests into the design. The sheath also doubles as a rocket pack, allowing him to move around at high speeds.

CoValt's new look helped me broaden my range and give me more freedom when it comes to creating OCs. Now he's more than just the Roy amiibo that he was, while also being his own thing. And that's something that I want to do with all of my amiibo characters.
