"There are warriors in our world that possess great abilities. However some can go beyond their original state! After overcoming many obstacles, Paragon has unlocked this special ability. And when pushed to her limits, she will transform and don shining gold armor!"_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Enough time has past, it seems. The concept of Transcendence rears it's powerful head. I had mentioned this phenomenon in a previous post. But now I have a drawn example of it. So now I think it's time to reveal the inner workings of the Transcendent Paragon.
When it came to designing her Transcendent form, I had a few themes in mind. Imperfection, acceptance, and self-worth. Being proud of who you are regardless of any flaws. These are all themes present in Paragon's story, despite the contradiction in her name. I dug up a few pointers that I used for inspiration. One of them was the art of kintsugi, where streaks of gold cover any crack that's present. The art form's philosophy celebrates these cracks rather than try to hide them. So it's perfect for what I want to accomplish. She also had a gold form in Ultimate Lab: Roy , so it felt natural to bring it back.
I also had this quote from Marilyn Monroe in mind while designing it. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
This quote lead me to my next pointer. The emphasis on gems and beauty. Paragon could already create crystals using her powers, so I could easily build on that. Ms. Monroe was also responsible for another famous quote. "Diamonds are a girl's best friend." So I incorporated red diamonds into the design. Diamonds are often linked to gold, and are associated with fire and beauty. Red diamonds are also a thing, but naturally red ones are incredibly rare! This heightens their importance to Paragon and the idea that we're all special in some way. Heck, her new sword is made from these crystals!
Though there are gems sprinkled across the armor, you may have noticed that some are larger than others. This is where the final pointer comes into play! What could better compliment the genius behind kintsugi and imperfect beauty than asymmetry! Having the crystals grow in irregular ways brings home the idea of imperfection. Of course, these crystals are arranged in a way that is still cohesive despite their varying lengths. There's also more gems on Paragon's left gauntlet than her right. I read an article that said diamonds bound to someone's left arm could grant them victory no matter how many foes are present. So that's where I got the idea to add asymmetrical elements. This mostly was the gems, but the gold trim along the chest is asymmetrical too!
I think that's it for the design. There was a lot that went into it, but they all blended together nicely. Now let's talk fighting capabilities!
I mentioned that Paragon's crystals have metallic properties. So when she Transcends, she gains the Metal element. Her aforementioned crystal creation has been improved. And thanks to her new wing-like tassels, she can fly around without the need to shapeshift! She receives an overall boost to her stats, but her new armor is a bit heavy. So she trades some Speed for added Defense. Speaking of stats, you might have noticed that both of Paragon's forms are pure Power type. This was pretty recent change as far as the base form's concerned. It use to be Power & Speed type, but I changed it because I had a good chunk of Speed types planned and wanted to do some balancing. It also made switching stats around a little easier since she can still be balanced but attack focused.
And that's about it. A few extra details before we wrap things up are the names. The base form's name is Ruby Form. Fairly obvious. While the Transcendent form is called Adamant Form. Adamant is the archaic form of diamond, which in turn gets it's name from the word adamas. It use to be called Lustrous Form back when I first came up with it, but I changed it to Adamant after incorporating diamonds into the design.

Hold up! If you decide to use this, please give me credit for making the darn thing! I worked hard on this, and I don't want people stealing my work!
