Hiho @all^^Here we go with a new lil Tarrant drawing but this time not with his beloved Alice rather with an "old friend"..XD
I guess everyone of us love the "relationship" he had with chess during the movie or should i say which Chess had/have with his hat? XD
So my darling and me got the idea how their "friendship" could started... And with this we also got the idea that Chess already started to love the cylinder when he was a sweet lil kitty.
E.g on a random day in the Hightopp Clan...maybe a lil festival... Tarrant is sitting somewhere to have a lil break with a nice cup of tea and a tasty choco-cookie^^ Relaxing and leant on his fathers hat....
Yes his father hat, cause when you look the movie carefully, you can see that Tarrant didn´t worn HIS hat from the beginning...
Cause on the Horunvendush Day (The day the Red Queen took the control of Underland) he picked up THE hat we know now for the first time...The paper with 10/6 isn´t "burned" so much, the hatband have a different color... More magenta and isn´t actually so long like Tarrant used to wear later... It also have a lil bow/ribbon on the side. And it miss at this moment also the feather and the needdles.
Of course you don´t know if the hat really belonged to his father, but we found it was a sweet idea AND it would explain why the cylinder means so much to Tarrant... As the last item/memory he have from his family...
That the hat have in here have a kind of a long hatband, well i decided to add it cause the pic seems without a lil bit tooo empty
So maybe his dad put it on just for the day However...
Tarrant enjoy his lil pause and Chess use the situation to get the hat. He is like Tarrant still a lil "Baby-boy/kitty" and he don´t know how to waft or to vaporize, cause he is still in training.. So he need to walk ect like every normal cat tooXD
And like every child he have nothing better to do than to play tricks on other.
And especially on Tarrant of course *lol*So he comes on silent paws
Poor sweetheart Tarrant... *hihihi*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other explanations to Tarrants look...:::
I decided to give him a different vest, socks (at least one of them XD), other thimbles and yes he is also without his stains and hand- gauntlets... cause i think at this time the mercury poisoning didn´t infest him in young years.. Thats also why his (from the pic) left eyes haven´t this lil cute orange splotch. Cause it seems that he got it after he lost his home, cause during the close up before Alice got him back from his trance and from these memories you can see that his eyes are both totally normal and similar....
I know i did bad mistakes on the hat cause it is a lil bit tooo high ;_; so i hope you don´t mind
And jesus.. its soo f***** hard to get the exactly pattern of his hat... so i was forced (as always XD) to improvise... :/
Its also a kind of quick-color...so no big deal *drop* BUt...
I hope you enjoy it anyway

With the hat though, he could have simply altered it after that particular day e.g. given it a new ribbon, added the feather and needles, etc.

You see the hat is a kind of silk-black/dark-red with an totally different hatband...which is also checked

But with that it become much more clear why it means so much for Tarrant and why he isn´t bot complete without his hat...

Perhaps Tarrant keeps it as a reminder of that day, which now defines who he is? Before that, he was insane but happy. Now, there are so many dark voices inside him competing with the good, it's hard for him. The hat is kinda like a marker for that day.

Yes maybe :/ A memory or a kind of a souvenir... A good and bad at the same time.
Hm but with the voices inside him.. i´m not so sure... I guess he have just one "person" inside him, or at least he maybe "think" he have...I mean the Outlander (with the soo SEXY accent *-* Rrrrr...) and which take control over him when he get angry, afraid or need to protect himself. Johnny Depp gave perfectly explanation of that on the Bluray Extras
So for me Tarrant isn´t really insane too. A lil bit mad/crazy yes but not insane. He just play the mad man like you can see so often during the movie. BUT he knows exactly what he is doing. Some very good examples you find when he is in front of the red queen in her throne room and yes at the end when Alice broke his heart... :/ Its just a kind of mask, you see?

So yeah in this case he need Alice much more than she actually knows... :/ Cause before he was in love with her, his friends could get him down very easily again.. but then it was Alice which "bring him back"... I think she is his part he needs to feel complete.

Well the thing is, Johnny Depp has said before that Tarrant isn't in love with Alice. It was a brother/sister relationship, even though it came across as something totally different. They looked out for each other, like a family would. I won't deny that they do seem to need one another to balance out and that Tarrant was quite upset about Alice leaving in particular, but he perked up at the idea of her coming back.

Well yes i know Johnny used to say that they take of each other like a brother and sister does, but as you said too, it came across totally different. Cause don´t forget the original script... In that A+T actually should become lovers and should kiss two times :/ ;__; its such a pitty that they changed it in the movie.
I don´t know why they changed it, but maybe it was cause of the age of Alice. You know often people thinks its wrong that an "older" man (and in this case Tarrant doesn´t looks sooo old just like 35-38) (even Johnny doesn´t look like 47years) loves or could be together with a 19years old girl. But well for me she was/is an adult and not a child anymore. And in this time era she was much more an adult than we use to call it today. The difference at this times makes no matter, you see? ^^°
And well i also don´t see the way Tarrant act with her after Salazen Grum like they look out for each other like a family would do, i´m sry :/ Cause when my "brother/friend" would look and handle me like he did... i would feel concerned about that. :S So yes i agree with you = that they do seem to need one another to balance out and that Tarrant was quite upset about Alice leaving in particular

Yes, well, we can't change what is now. It didn't come across as they had intended {which is rather funny to me}. I'm kinda hoping maybe Tim Burton goes back to it and finds a way to get Alice to stay in Wonderland somehow, or maybe Wonderland spills out into the real world. Like...Tarrant gets stuck topside? That'd be interesting xD
