Description        Kurt Wagner x Reader Part 15

When the boys finished with the tent they all picked their compartments.

Jean and Scott decided to room together, as did (Y/N) and Kurt, there was some light debate between Kitty and Lance about sharing a room but in the end, they decided to share, but Kitty made a rather extensive list of rules for Lance.

Pietro and Even would be sleeping in their own rooms and the remaining five rooms were going to be used as storage and changing rooms, one was designated for the girls and the other for the boys.

Once they were all settled in the found that it was about 2:00 in the afternoon and they had driven through lunch to arrive as early as possible.

So, they set out for the food trucks that inhabited a single area.

They were all positioned in two rows facing each other. Some were still closed, as the festival technically did start till the next day, but most were already open and selling several different things, mostly the normal fair foods that one would expect to see, such as corn dogs, hot dogs, burgers, corn on the cob, elephant ears, and a number of other fried foods and desserts that couldn’t possibly be good for you.

Once they finished scoping out their options, they went in duos to get their food of choice.

(Y/N) and Kurt went to the truck that was selling pizza and ordered a slice each, Kurt ordering peperoni and (Y/N) ordering (fav topping).

When they got their food, they were more than a little surprised to see how huge the slices were, easily the size of two and a half normal slices put together.

“I was not expecting this…” (Y/N) said as she looked down at the plate in her hands, the piece of paper dwarfed by the monstrous slice of pizza.

“Neither was I, but I’m not going to complain” Kurt said with a smile.

“Agreed” (Y/N) said as they started back to the tent, where they had all agreed to meet up when they’d gotten their food.

It took (Y/N) and Kurt a few moments to figure out how to go about eating the huge slices of pizza but when Jean suggested that they fold them in half the problem was solved and they started eating.

When they finished eating they, once again, split into duos and started to wander around the festival.

(Y/N) and Kurt went towards the vendor’s booths.

They meandered their way past each booth, occasionally stopping at one that caught their eye, when Kurt saw one that he seemed more adamant about stopping at.

This vender sold mostly jewelry but seemed to sell a few other odds and ends as well.

What Kurt had stopped to look at was a spinning rack of necklaces that were simple but still pretty. They consisted of what looked like a black cord-like string with a clasp and a crystal pendent, which was labeled as real by a sign on top of the rack, that had a thick piece of wire tightly twisted around it to form a loop for the cord to string through it.

Kurt looked for a few moments before turning to the saleslady that ran the booth. He spoke to her in a hushed tone that caused (Y/N) to raise her brow in questioning as she watched the exchange.

She was about to ask Kurt what he was doing when she was tapped on the shoulder from behind.
Upon turning she was met with a girl no older than her. The girl had dark skin, curly black hair, and bright blue, almost white, eyes. But what really stood out about her wasn’t her unnaturally light eyes, it was the silver markings that scrawled across her skin and seemed to glow, not unlike (Y/N)’s own.

“Hi” she said in a smooth voice, a smile stretching over her light lips.

“Hello” (Y/N) replied, still a bit started by the similarities in their physical mutations.

“Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to say that I think your markings are beautiful” she said with an impressed expression.

“O-Oh um…Thank you, yours are too. I’ve never met someone that had the same markings as me…I didn’t even know it was possible” she replied with a disbelieving air.

“I know the feeling. I’m Nia by the way, I create absences of light, or if you want to get poetic, I create darkness” The girl, now names Nia, said with a small shrug.

(Y/N) found herself once again baffled by this girl, she was practically a perfect opposite to (Y/N).

“I’m (Y/N), I create light, or if you want to get poetic, I create abscises of darkness” she said with a chuckle.

Nia laughed and shook her head in disbelief, not unlike how (Y/N) had just a moment before. “Who would have thought that I would be the yin to my yang at a music festival” she said with
a small burst of laughter.

“We should hang out later” (Y/N) suggested.

“Sure, sounds fun, are you staying in the tent sea?” Nia asked.

“Yeah, just look for the giant one that looks like a portable hotel and you’ll have found me” she said with a laugh.

“So, that’s you…I wondered who that thing belonged to. I didn’t know that they made tents that big” she said with a shake of her head.

“neither did I, but I guess you learn something every day” (Y/N) said with a nod.

“I guess so. Well I’ll catch up with you later” Nia said with a wave as she went to walk away.

“See you around” (Y/N) replied as she waved back and turned back to Kurt at the vendor booth.

When she turned, she was met with the sight of Kurt shaking the older saleswoman’s hand while seemingly holding something in his hand.

When Kurt came back to her he had a proud smile on his face as he made a motion that told her to turn her back to him.

She narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously before obeying.

She felt his presence behind her before she heard his voice. “Close your eyes” he said quietly.

She once more obeyed and closed her eyes. Then she felt something being placed around her neck and she knew that he’d gotten her one of the necklaces.

“Ok, open” he said one he was done doing the clasp on the back.

(Y/N) opened her eyes and looked down at the crystal and found it was a deep blue, which was the same shade as Kurt’s skin, and golden, like her markings, swirled together and held to
the cord by silver wire.

She turned to look at Kurt as a smile stretched over her face as she pulled him down into a kiss. “It’s beautiful. I love you, so much” she said looking up into his yellow eyes.

“I love you too, schats*” he said touching his forehead to hers.

After that they continued their walk among the crowds, their hands wrapped around each other loosely and swinging lightly between them.

The big headliner bands didn’t start playing till the next day but they did have a few DJ’s playing popular music so people didn’t just have to listen to the sound of crowds talking,
walking, etc.

There were large boards with the band schedules for each day on them. (Y/N) and Kurt agreed on a few that they wanted to attend before deciding to head back to the tent.

When they arrived, they found that most of the other were still out wondering around, except for Evan and Pietro, who stated that they didn’t want to leave the tent alone, even though there was only one door and it was zipped and locked and only those staying in it had the keys.

They set out some lawn chairs and the cooler, which they’d packed with soda and water, as the boys tried to start a small fire, so they weren’t freezing their butts off in the dark after the sun went down.

They were still trying to ignite the sticks and paper that they’d set up into a makeshift fire pit when Scott, Jean, Kitty, and Lance returned.

(Y/N) was watching with an amused expression as they seemed to completely forget that her powers could burn hot enough to ignite the paper.

“Is there a reason that you’re not helping them?” Jean asked after a while from her spot next
to (Y/N).

“Not really, I’m just waiting for them to remember that I can help them” she replied, leaning her head toward Jean but still watching the struggling men.

After a while she couldn’t take it anymore and stood. “Step aside boys” she said as she approached their huddled forms. “Man may have invented fire. But women perfected it” she said as she formed a small orb of light and made it bight and hot, to light the paper on fire.
“You’re welcome” she continued, placing a kiss on Kurt’s head in passing.

She sat back in her chair with a smug air as the boys looked at her with irritation.

“You could do that, this whole time…And you just let us keep making fools of ourselves?” Pietro asked.

“Yeah. I was honestly just waiting for you to either give up or ask someone else for help” she replied with a chuckle.

“She really is your sister, man” Evan said addressing Pietro, giving him a slap on the shoulder as he stood from the ground and went to his chair.

Kurt was about to go get a chair from inside, as Kitty had taken his and he didn’t want to make her get up, when (Y/N) stopped him and stood, making his sit, before she sat sideways on his lap. “Am I hurting you?” she asked quietly after she settled. Kurt just shook his head and wrapped his arms around her.

They all stayed like that for a while as they talked and joked.

Then (Y/N) saw Nia approaching them. She lifted a hand and waved when she was close enough and (Y/N) returned it.

“Hey. I knew you’d be able to find us” (Y/N) joked to Nia before turning to the others. “This is Nia. We met earlier when Kurt and I were in the Vendors booths” (Y/N) explained before turning back to Nia. “These are my friends. Kitty, Lance, Jean, Scott, Evan. My brother Pietro, and my boyfriend Kurt” she introduced, gesturing to each as she said their names, but they all seemed a bit to awestruck by the similarities between (Y/N) and this new person.

“It’s nice to meet you. Mind if I join you?” she asked.

“Not at all, let me get you a chair” Jean said kindly as she stood and went inside to get another chair.

“Thanks” Nia said with a nod.

“So, Nia, where are you from?” Scott asked in a friendly manner.

“I’m from Bayville” she replied.

“Really? We are too. We’ve never seen you before, do you not go to Bayville high?” Evan asked.

“No, I’ve always been homeschooled, so I don’t get out much” she replied with a shake of her head.

“That makes sense. Sound lonely though” Kitty said.

“Not really, my mom had me in a Homeschooling Association where I can meet other people my age. But when my powers manifested they kicked me out, only a few of my friends stuck around”
she explained.

“Are you here with them? They can join us too if they want” Jean offered as she gave Nia the chair.

“Nah, I’m here on my own. They couldn’t get their parents to let them come all the way out here without them. I guess you guy don’t have that problem huh?” Nia said.

“None of us live with our parents. We live at a special institution for mutants. Xavier’s Institution for Gifted Kids, it’s just outside of Bayville” Jean explained.

“Oh yeah, I’ve heard of that place, my mom almost sent me there but didn’t want me living away from her. Did your parents send you or…?” Nia questioned.

“Most of us were sent by parents. Some of us were kicked out and were taken in by Professor Xavier” (Y/N) answered, Kurt running his hand soothingly over her back at the mention of
being kicked out, knowing that it was still a bit of a sore subject for her.

Nia nodded understandingly, knowing what (Y/N) was saying without outright saying it. “I’m sorry to hear that. I know a few people who’ve gone through that” she said. (Y/N) sent her a small smile in reply.

“Am I the only one who’s freezing?” Kitty asked, braking the tension that had built up in the air around them, wrapping her arms around herself as she spoke.

“I think I can help with that” Lance said as he pulled her close and wrapped his arm around her, her cheek going red but not saying anything.

(Y/N) sent her a teasing smile and she just rolled her eyes as she cuddled up to Lance.

“You two are really cute together” Nia said watching the exchange between Kitty and Lance.

“T-Thanks” Kitty replied as her cheeks grew even redder. Nia just nodded with a smile.

Conversation continued normally for a while longer before Scott noted that it was getting late, which prompted Nia to take her leave, and they all huddled into the tent for bed.

The girls gathered their bed clothes and went to the compartment that had been designated as their dressing room and got changed.

When (Y/N) returned to her and Kurt’s compartment she was met with the sight of Kurt setting out their sleeping bags and pillows. When he saw her standing there watching him, he smiled at her and gestured to the sleeping bags in a manner that seemed to ask if it was okay, he’d unzipped both completely and laid one out like a mattress and the other over it as a blanket, she nodded and made her way toward him as he pulled the top one down so they could settle under it.

This was far from the first time they’d shared a bed but she still felt the butterflies in her stomach at being so close to him.

They both curled up together and let themselves fall asleep peacefully.
