The tiger-duck reminds me of those 'Bear und Tiger' books. I think there was a tiger-duck like this in one of them somewhere.
It's a neat contrast between the chipped, shabby duck and the sleek, shiny robot.

Those objects that looks like eyes and mouth in the machine's face... They look like solid objects

Anyway, yeah eyes, whatever, you said it was supposed to look like it was "head sideways, looking shocked" so, ultimately the big round object that supposedly is the robots eye, symbolically becomes a mouth... agree?
