Description
Close up on the inside of the bowl. Because I know everyone is wondering why the crackle didn't remain throughout the piece, i shall explain. When you pull raku piece out of the kiln, they are red hot. You put the red hot pottery into a bin on sawdust / pin needles / paper scraps and make sure the bin is air tight. This cause the pottery to go through an oxygen reduction and causes the black cracks. When I pulled this piece out of the reduction, I left outside to cool because I didn't feel like setting another table on fire. Where there are no cracks, a chunk of ash was covering the pot. The glaze did not contract there so no black lines are present.
