Today, I couldn't get into my flow state while working on my NaNoMango project, which sucks because it is the last full day I get to work on it. No more days off for me in November! But I had resolved earlier to create a folder in Sketchbook for Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan pages and download files into it so I could work on them. So I looked at my Dropbox folder of pages that needed to be inked and/or colored, and decided to work on Pages 74 and up of Feral. These currently exist on my website as pencil-only pages, but I inked them a few years ago. So naturally the next step was for me to add continuity flats (flat colors, based on the color schemes of the characters as they last appeared, with the background elements also colored according to their last appearance, without paying much attention to how these colors work together) and then to hand them off to skycladstrega for final color work. This is what I got back from her tonight! I will check the returned pages thoroughly on my iMac screen, tone down things if they're too much based on what I see on that monitor, add a few touches where she's left things too flat, composit the page if necessary, add balloons and lettering, and then post the page to the archive on the main ROCR.net website. Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan is, by now, my biggest production so the process has many distinct stages that I don't skimp on.
The website will soon have a major update; I've already removed a bunch of junk from it to prepare and it loads a lot faster now. Its next iteration will be very minimalist and exist only to support showing the comics as best as possible, without additional elements that slow down loading for readers and increase the maintenance load on my end. I hope to have that ready by the end of the year.
