Description
Finally!Usually I only offer to draw Ian to people so that they'll reject - and no wonder, I often reject him too. And it was good, all the information about him was sitting in my head, updated with a snap of a finger and accessible in the finest detail. But recently the unexpected happened, and as many as two people said yes! And there is no reference sheet! To explain all the details of such a character with words and crude sketches is certainly a good thing, but to have a picture to which you can refer is another.
It was just before New Year and I decided to make myself a present, but I hadn't managed to finish the drawing until the beginning of January, during the winter break, or in February. Now it is March, and here it finally is.
Bonus: the reference didn't include information about magnetoreception, mostly because I don't yet know what exactly in Ian is responsible for it - individual receptors throughout the body or a particular organ or tissue. Either way, Ian is magnetized himself and is able to sense his magnetic surroundings. In a sense, it is a replacement for the tactual perception, with which he has issues due to his hard exoskeleton. The magnetization is provided by the high content of metal in his shell, which also makes him shiny, and also - very heavy: Ian can't swim. At least, not in water.
