Description Mourtairs practically do not use teeth for eating, as they normally swallow food whole. They also usually have fewer teeth than humans, 28-24 on average (32 is possible, but rare). But sometimes teeth still do wear out, and in case of carelessness can even crack.

That's why the formation of new teeth in mourtairs occurs "on demand" - this process is triggered by trauma. In the x-ray above, the left jaw of a light mourt, one canine is broken and there is a half-healed fissure next to the broken tooth. This triggered the formation of not only the injured canine, but also the incisors - just in case.

Premolars do not have this mechanism (not exactly premolars, but since they are behind the canines, let's call them that). If they are lost, there will be no new ones, and the mourt will be left having only ten teeth. Not that it impairs anything.
