Description
This is someone that I haven't drawn for years. It's Rejlans father, at first I named him Elear but I changed it for Ehimey, just because. The drawing itself is mixed media. Drawn in pen and finished up on the computer. I haven't played with digital art for a while so I went a bit crazy with the settings, and filters and stuff. Maybe too much? I don't know anymore.
Ok, so let me tell You a bit about him:
Ehimey Abdel-Nour
- species: human (I'd say his LKL decent is somewhat comparable to a mix of Arabic and Hindu)
- age: 117 (people in LKL age about twice as slow as we do)
- height: 172cm (5,6 ft)
- weight: 92kg (202 lb)
- favourite colour: This is some woman nonsense!
- favourite food: unspoiled and preferably not human (he hates peaches)
- hobbies: horseback riding, reading (mostly history books, he really enjoys mystery novels a lot but he doesn't want anyone to see him read them)
Ehimey is a high ranking officer in the local army, and a proven war hero. He is a very ambitious man, you might also say he is a bit of a workaholic. Everything he does is a part of a grand life plan of his, that sadly includes his family life, and in a big way at that. He comes of scary and serious, and that he is. His eyes are known for their soul crushing abilities, they are black and cold like windows into a void of fear. The situation is not helped by the fact that Ehimey doesn't have a sense of humour, he barely ever smiles, not once he was seen laughing out loud in other way than a short, enigmatic and insincere chuckle. He has been seen crying though. He is rather calm and uderstated in his movement.
Apart from that he can be very energetic when the situation calls for it, otherwise he is known for the ability to nap in every situation and position (it seems it is hereditary). He is a 'no nonsense' type of man, as a rather simple soldier he doesn't care for unneeded courteousness, he sort of lacks a sense of decorum as far as palace life goes. You couldn't say he's a stupid simpleton though, as a officer he had to become a 'scholar', which means that he had to pass the overall curriculum and achieve a degree in either science, history, magic or social studies in the Academy. Ehimey chose history as his major, which greatly helped not only his tactical abilities as an officer but also gave him a better understanding of politics and 'the way to the top'.
Marriages
Ehimey has four wives at the moment (one sadly died some years ago). All but one of his marriages were part of his plan, the great amount of children and the way and aim of their education was part of it as well. Basically he made his family into a stepping stone for him becoming the Grand War Master of the city. To achieve that, apart from excelling in the field of combat and being a solid tactician, he married for times, to ensure his social and political standing.
His first wife was Indali Charu a woman of high birth and with loads of money, she happily gave him eleven children, six boys and four girls.
Later on he married Rupashi - a gorgeous princess from a family that had debts, and lot of pull in the palace. She gave him four children, three boys and a girl pretty as a flower, sadly she died soon after the birth of her daughter, and as the law stated she was not allegeable for resurrection her soul passed on. It was a dark time in the house of Ehimey, for almost a month he mourned her alone, in a garden he gave her as wedding gift.
About ten years before the death of Rupashi came another marriage. Because what Ehimey needed at that moment was to strengthen his position outside the city politics and so he married a woman from the western plains. Daughter of a man, that was well known and widely respected amongst nomads and western merchants. Her name was Marie-Sol, she was a defiant woman of a vastly different background than Ehimeys. After he urged her for few years she reluctantly gave him one son- Rejlan.
His fourth marriage was one of common pursuit of power and influence, it was very soon after his marriage to Marie-Sol that he was reached out by Zara - a chieftain of a tribe from the very edge of the continent. They both got what they wanted from this merger as far as politics and heirs go - she wanted a daughter and he wanted another son.
And then something unexpected happened. Some time before he married Zara Ehimey met a woman not as beautiful as Rupashi, nor as rich as Indali, nor of a particularly convenient provenance as Marie-Sol or Zara. For a brief time a mist of madness came over Ehimey as he pursued that woman, and after a quite long courtship he married her. Her name was Amira Maisa and she became his world, she was the balm for all his pains and any misfortune that he encountered. She was no two bit princess, Amira in many aspects was very similar to Ehimey. She had a greater plan for her life and she was determined to achieve it. As much cold and heartless it seems, her plan was to marry and live grand. She did that but with the mindset of being worthy of all that greatness, so she loved Ehimey, she was by his side, always ready to protect her man as he protected her. She most happily gave him four children and loved them all to bits.
All of these marriage schemes provided Ehimey with enough influence and control to become one of the seven generals that lead the biggest army forces on this continent. It pleased him.
Children
His five marriages produced so far 22 children, every one of them had a plan slowly build around them by their father as they grew up. Sadly their life was not their own for the most part, and those which didn't appreciate being told what to do, and who to be had it quite rough. Ehimey as a father was like a demanding general to the boys, and usually just a distant figure for the girls. Always busy and a bit distant. He always managed better with his sons as with the girls he feared that he would be to crude and too much of a simple brute for his little flowers. To his sons on the other hand he was almost merciless. He needed them to become his capable warriors, mages, advisors and so on. He was always very careful not to spoil them in thinking that they will have it easy because they are sons of a general. He overdid it a bit just in case, and for the most part he succeeded. None of his children became to hate him, some of them were mad, disappointed or a bit scared, but all of them have the upmost respect for Ehimey, if only that.
Respect
Honour, family and tradition are some of the words that could be a very relevant part of the family motto if the Ehimey clan had one. Those three things are of great value to Ehimey, they are the things for which he stands and fights to the very last drop of his enemies blood. There is nothing that he wouldn't give or do to protect those things and ideals. Violence against any of them is like a sign of disrespect too him and Ehimey will not be disrespected.
Family sayings:
Don't let your tongue cut your head off.
The bow of Ehimeys son must only be flexed with the arm of wisdom.
Man who thinks twice does his work once.
A moment of patience in time of anger will spare you an eternity of torment.
All of them basically say: Don't do or say stupid shit. Most of them are more or less rewritten sayings from different cultures.Art © rejlan Stolarska Agnieszka
