Description Sketch/WIP of my TTRPG character from a sci fi setting inspired by 90s sci fi anime, named Xi'ta, and their species are called the Qalar.

The Qalar are silicon based organisms that live on a planet with high temperature and pressure. They take the form of elongated, non sapient worm like organisms that grow between 12 and 18 inches long, and live in large colonies that behave as a single organism. They intertwine their bodies in complex shapes, constantly moving and wrapping between each other to maintain physical contact, which allows them to ling their nervous systems together. As more Qalar come together in a colony, it becomes more and more intelligent, eventually gaining sapience. Though these colonies are capable of physically interacting with the world in their naked forms, in the modern day, they often use technology to interact with the world. The suit pictured here is a standard exosuit used by extentions of the mega colonies. The geopolitics of their modern civilization consist of numerous megacolonies, comprised of millions of individuals, with vast intellects. Though mostly sedentary, in order to extend their range of influence beyond their immediate reach, these mega colonies will create the affoemended extentions of themselves, granting temporary individuality to a small colony that then goes out and performs its task, before returning to the mega colony to be reassimilated. If these extentions spend too much time apart from their colony, they can develop a sense of self apart from the colony, essentially becoming new colonies in and of themselves. This is what happened to Xi'ta, who was on a long term biological expedition to catalogue xenobiology when they separated from their main colony, at which point they became a fugitive from their home civilization, who wanted to forcefully reassimilate them.
